Anyone active in our sector can see how quickly the building envelope is evolving. Materials are changing, standards are becoming stricter, systems are becoming smarter, and end users' expectations continue to rise. In my conversations with manufacturers, assembly companies, installers, specifiers, and consultants, I hear the same need over and over again: overview. Not only of products, but especially of the relationship between all those components that together determine the performance of a building. Windows, doors, frames, glass, insulation, ventilation, sun protection, hinges and locks, access technology... nothing stands alone anymore. It's all intertwined.
That is precisely why I am so convinced of the value of a trade fair that takes place once every two years. So much changes during that period that there is a need for a moment when the sector literally comes together to see where we stand and where we are going. Polyclose is exactly that moment: three days in which you can see, hear, and feel the evolution of the building envelope. Not spread out over online meetings or separate encounters, but concentrated in one place, where you can speak directly with the makers, builders, and designers.
What strikes me is that these meetings are becoming increasingly important. We don't just want to know what innovations are available, but above all what they mean in practice. How systems work together. What is changing in regulations. How digitization and automation are finding their way into windows, doors, and facades. How comfort and safety are being combined with energy performance and sustainability. The questions are becoming broader, and the answers require more nuance than a brochure can ever provide.

In compact Previews, practical Labs, and discussions with experts, we offer additional insight into the trends and challenges that define our sector. Not as a theoretical exercise, but as support for the daily practice of all professionals who read Profiel.
What ultimately makes Polyclose so valuable to me is what happens between the stands: the conversations that provide unexpected inspiration, the ideas that arise from a chance encounter, the small discoveries that can have a big impact on a project.
