On November 21, 2019, Antwerp will host the first Belgian edition of Architects, not Architecture. The renowned architects Michiel Riedijk, Christine Conix and Julien De Smedt will give a unique insight into their personal experiences and inspirations. As the name suggests, the focus is not on the realizations, but on the architects themselves. As a trendsetter in the building industry, Schüco is enthusiastically supporting this Belgian first.
The three architects each have a great track record. Michiel Riedijk is co-founder of the Rotterdam firm Neutelings Riedijk Architects, which is best known for complex projects for public, commercial and cultural buildings, including the Museum aan de Stroom in Antwerp. Christine Coninx is co-founder of CONIX RDBM Architects, which has offices in Antwerp, Brussels, Rotterdam and Terneuzen. Flexibility, functionality and aesthetics are the core values of their architectural vision. Julien De Smedt is the founder and director of JDS Architects, based in Brussels, Copenhagen, Belo Horizonte and Shanghai. His architectural outlook is distinctly innovative as well as social.
"Schüco is proud to associate our name with the first Belgian edition of Architects, not Architecture," says Geert Michels. "For visitors it will be a perfect opportunity to be inspired as well as to ask questions to these big names in architecture."
