Due to the stricter energy performance and airtightness requirements for buildings in both new construction and renovation projects, connecting seams and the associated seals are increasingly important. These seams must be sealed excellently while also taking into account the technical and building physics requirements for sustainable construction. TEROSON, a brand of Henkel Adhesive Technologies, offers a range of innovative solutions for the reliable and durable sealing of window and façade connections, both for low and high-rise buildings.
No two construction projects are alike. This is true for residential construction, but certainly also for residential towers and other high-rise projects. After all, the requirements in terms of geometry, function and visual effect vary widely, creating challenges for designers, engineers and contractors.
"In energy-efficient buildings, windows and (curtain) facades must meet the highest requirements in terms of thermal and acoustic insulation as well as burglar resistance. The connecting seams and connection joints must also meet these requirements. It is therefore important to plan the sealing right from the design phase. At TEROSON, we support our partners with expert advice. We want to suggest them a suitable seal for their specific application," says Mark Tates, key account manager building Benelux.
"Under the wings of Henkel, we provide sealing and adhesive solutions for facade builders, window fitters and sealing specialists. Our range includes sealing strips, compression tapes, joint kits, profiled sealing tapes, flexible PU foams, construction adhesives and other system components."
TEROSON offers a complete range of products tailored to high-rise applications, where windows and facades are often exposed to extreme conditions. The new TEROSON FO150 FOIL-TACK M+S is a special sealing strip, which is self-adhesive, water- and diffusion-tight over its entire surface and is specifically used on the warm sides of buildings for façade elements, windows, door connections and sealing of anchors.
TEROSON FO 3 is a waterproof, diffusion-open sealing strip, resistant even to driving rain, for use on the cold side of a building. Both products are compatible with bitumen and require no additional mechanical fixing. TEROSON TA ALU sealing and repair tape is a unique product. It has a unique layer based on butyl rubber with a plastic-aluminum composite strip, resulting in a solution with very high tear resistance, even with screw penetration. "That makes this aluminum seal ideal for glass-to-glass connections with compression profiles, aluminum and metal window connections, the construction of skylights and conservatories and the installation of
ventilation and air conditioning systems," Tates adds.
"TEROSON WT 112 DB is a sprayable acoustic damping coating that is also virtually non-flammable according to DIN EN 13501 (class
A2-s1, d0). It is used for coating the back of aluminum or steel façade elements and as a sound-deadening agent and damping of structure-borne noise in thin-walled metal sheet structures, such as trapezoidal roof panels."
TEROSON develops and produces solutions for high-rise applications, but of course also supplies products for sealing seams in homes and other low-rise projects. Thus, with TEROSON FO 1 and FO 50 FOIL-TACK, the specialist offers two complete self-adhesive and plasterable fleece solutions. These provide air and windtight joints, respectively in cold and warm sides.
Thanks to the innovative Henkel hot melt technology, they are repositionable after application. TEROSON EF 537 is a flexible, hardly flammable PU foam. Among other things, it is ideal as a filling of joints around windows, exterior doors and window sills and as insulation of structural components against heat, cold, drafts and noise. Whatever the application, together we will realize a unique design.
