Aesthetics and functionality go hand in hand
When designing houses, apartments and other buildings, architects pay great attention to natural light and maximum views of the surroundings. Therefore, contemporary architecture is also characterized by the integration of many and especially large glass panes, including sliding doors. However, the heavy profiles of the average sliding door are often a disturbing element, limiting the view outside.
Infinium from AluK offers the solution for a seamless transition between inside and outside. Indeed, this innovative aluminum sliding door system with a center post only 21 mm wide guarantees maximum transparency. This sliding door also combines a minimalist design with top performance in terms of thermal and acoustic insulation.
Infinium is AluK's ultra-slim aluminum sliding door that harmoniously brings indoor and outdoor living together. Thanks to the large glass surface, slim profile lines and a center post of barely 21 mm, one gets an unobstructed panoramic view and spaces are optimally filled with natural daylight. Indeed, the sliding sections can be supplied with a width of up to 3000 mm and a height of up to 3500 mm.
"The frame and sliding elements are invisibly concealed structurally all around resulting in an unobstructed view. The system therefore integrates harmoniously on the inside and outside into the architecture of the facade," they tell us at AluK.
"This system comes with double (38 mm) and triple (52 mm) glazing and scores highly in terms of thermal insulation
(Uw 1.3 W/m²K for double glazing and 1.0 W/m²K for triple glazing), acoustics (Rw 41 dB (-2;-5) for double glazing), burglar resistance (RC 2), air (Class 4) and water tightness (Class 8A at 450 Pa). Infinium therefore more than meets current standards."
With Infinium from AluK, aesthetics and functionality go hand in hand. For example, the new flat sill solution improves aesthetics and ergonomics thanks to a continuous view at floor level without interruption. By using the flat sill, the sash is easy to (dis)assemble without breaking into the ceiling. New wheel sets ensure that this configuration is feasible with an increased sash weight of up to 400 kg and still makes even the heaviest Infinium sliding door user-friendly.
In addition, with the flat sill, these wheel sets can be easily serviced, as one has direct access to the spring pin after removing the sill profiles. The handles, available for indoor and outdoor use, feature a modern design with hidden hardware and mechanism. The new slim handle also adds to the aesthetics of the system. It is designed so that the screw heads are no longer visible. For added convenience, one can also opt for an automatic motorized system with electronic lock.
"The Infinium sliding door system is available in different configurations. In addition to the existing duo and tri-rail systems, a monorail version is now available and even up to six sashes can be used. With a 90º opening angle, any living space can be effortlessly connected. In addition, AluK offers a configuration where the glass panes meet at a 90° angle without the use of a corner profile. This creates an extremely elegant, light and transparent effect," AluK continues. "This makes this sliding door a very efficient and innovative system that is easy to manufacture and install."
