Cortizo, international leader in aluminum and plastic systems for architecture, presents a new window and balcony door system: Alu-Steel. This system combines the aesthetics of steel, as traditionally common in the Netherlands and Belgium, with the outstanding performance of aluminum.
The new series, developed by the R&D team of the multinational company headquartered in Padrón, Spain, includes a "classic" version with beveled profiles and a "modern" version based on straight lines, making it the perfect choice for new industrial construction projects and renovations. To improve natural light incidence, the series is designed with sightlines of 72.5 mm.
The system has a Uw transmittance from just 0.83 W/m²K, possible thanks to the 39 mm thermal break in the frame and the 32 mm thermal break in the sash. Similarly, this provides the opportunity for a glazing capacity of up to 54 mm, allowing the installation of triple-glazed double-chambered windows. This also provides excellent acoustic insulation, as Alu-Steel is designed to reduce noise up to 45 dB, making it a great option for construction in urban environments. This system - with maximum dimensions of 1.5 meters in height, 2.6 meters in width and weighing up to 160 kg per window - achieved the following results in the AEV test benches: Class 4 (air permeability), Class E1200 (water tightness) and Class C5 (wind resistance).
For 2025, Cortizo also has the following news in store: to facilitate interior and exterior movement, the company is launching this year an Alu-Steel solution without thresholds, equipped with a sealing system in the center of the wing.
Founded in 1972 as a small carpentry factory, Cortizo started its own aluminum foundry and a number of plants for extrusion, powder coating and anodizing in the 1980s. Starting in the 1990s, the company also began to focus increasingly on the design and development of aluminum and plastic window frame systems for international markets. By now, annual production capacity consists of some 150,000 tons of aluminum and 45,000 tons of PVC. This has made Cortizo an international name in aluminum and plastic systems for architecture. The Spanish multinational operates in 86 countries, with a clearly growing market in Belgium and the Netherlands in recent years. Since last summer, interested frame manufacturers can also visit Cortizo's new showroom in Kampenhout, close to Brussels.
