To respond to the rising demand for fire-resistant sandwich panels in the project market, sales manager Marc Nickel took up the gauntlet to develop a new product: Stadur FB-4 FR. This panel consists of a special core in non-combustible material coated with two layers of 1.0 mm in aluminum. This product is fire class A2-S1 certified according to DIN 13501-1 and is ideally suited for use in public buildings and cold stores, for stand construction, container construction and shipbuilding, as window and door infill, parapet, balcony cladding, partition wall, façade element or billboard.
Stadur of Hammah, Germany, was founded in 1982 and has become one of the largest and most innovative sandwich panel producers in Europe. The second-generation family business produces a wide range of standard designs as well as custom-made sandwich elements with dimensions of up to 14 meters in total. They are used in the construction industry for a wide variety of applications. By combining different top layers and core materials, Stadur can respond flexibly to customers' requirements. No matter which product one chooses, one always gets a high-quality solution, namely "Made in Germany.
"We had been receiving the demand from the market for some time to develop a class A2 fire-resistant sandwich panel. So we started looking for a suitable core material to create such a product, but that took some time. Finally, last year we found the solution. The fire-resistant sandwich element Stadur FB-4 FR is A2-S1 certified according to DIN 13501-1. It is composed of a special non-combustible, 100 % recyclable core with a density of 290 kg/m³, which is covered on both sides with a powder-coated aluminum coating of 1.0 mm," says Marc Nickel, sales manager construction for Germany and the Benelux countries.
"It comes with a protective film on both sides. This new panel has a total thickness of 15 mm and is available in sizes up to 2500 x 1250 mm. Other dimensions are also available upon request. This new development is also characterized by high burglar resistance and excellent acoustics, high stability and easy machining with ordinary metal processing tools."
"With this product, we offer our partners an ideal solution for application in schools, nurseries, healthcare facilities, ..., but also for the construction of stands, containers, boats and yachts, cold stores or advertising panels, as a facade element, parapet, partition, balcony cladding, window or door filling."
This new development from Stadur has since been tested by an independent body, which awarded the product the A2 fire resistance rating. Meanwhile, Stadur FB-4 FR is presented to architectural firms as well as to contractors looking for fire-resistant sandwich elements for their applications.
