All roller shutters may appear to look the same, but in reality, they are certainly not. You have them in all sizes, types and colors. There are also major differences in quality, robustness and finish. Recently, there has also been a clear evolution towards systems with a more compact case, higher burglary resistance and better insulating capacity. Alulux has been developing and producing German top quality roller shutters for over 50 years and still strives to improve every day. Witness to this are many new innovative systems, which have recently been added to the program.
We spoke with Tim van der Heijden, sales office manager at Reflex Trading Holland, about the benefits of roller shutters and current trends in the market. Reflex, which belongs to the AVZ Group, specializes in the distribution of parts and supplies for the assembly and installation of roller shutters and garage doors, including from the German brand Alulux, one of the market leaders in the development and production of high-quality roller shutters and roller gates.

With the CD 135, Alulux developed a shutter with a case that is 40 % smaller than a standard shutter case.
Roller shutters offer many whole benefits. For example, we want to keep burglars out in every way possible. Homes with roller shutters are more likely to be passed over because the chances of success are much lower there. Roller shutters also provide more privacy, keep out insects, block noise and light and withstand extreme weather conditions. Finally, there is also the insulating power, which makes for a better indoor environment and lower energy consumption. This is because in the summer they keep the heat out, and in the winter the heat stays longer inside.
Today, those who choose roller shutters can match them perfectly with the color of the window frames and facade. Thus, Alulux roller shutters are available in practically every color imaginable: standard colors from stock, special colors and textured paint on request. In addition to this grothang eere diversity in colors, the demand for shutters with a more compact case is increasing. The box is the most eye-catching part of a roller shutter. With type CD 135, Alulux developed a roller shutter with a box that is 40 % smaller than a standard roller shutter box. However, the latest development from roller shutter specialist is the Qompact with a chamfered (20°), straight or round case that is 45% smaller than the standard versions. This system is made entirely of extruded aluminum profiles.

Alulux has a wide range of different roller shutter systems. For example, the innovative Enext surface-mounted roller shutters have a NEOPOR filling in the case, which provides good thermal insulation and moisture resistance.
Thanks to special security guides, the arresting caps are secured in the guide with screws and are almost impossible to break open. With this, Alulux also responds to another trend in the market, namely higher burglary resistance. In addition to this Qompact, the program also includes the RE 1000 security roller shutter. This system consists of very sturdy extruded slats with a unique blocking profile, a reinforced bottom frame and extra heavy guides. This combination ensures that the roller shutter is virtually impossible to dislocate or pull up. The risk of burglary is thus reduced by 90%. The RE 1000 security roller shutter is also the only roller shutter for the private market with an SKG security mark and thus meets one of the requirements for the Police Quality Mark Safe Living.
Finally, with the surface-mounted roller shutters from the Enext program, Alulux also offers systems with improved insulating capacity. The case of these innovative systems, available with roller shutter armor or a screen, includes a NEOPOR filling, which provides good thermal insulation and moisture resistance, contributing to increased energy efficiency.
