Now available: pre-graying stain. This high quality finish, suitable for Platowood Fraké, is a semi-transparent stain that provides pre-graying of Platowood Fraké. With the Weathered Color Stain, the transition process to graying is overcome because the completed building immediately has the graying color.
If wood is not directly exposed to sunlight, such as under an overhang, the wood surface there will not gray or will gray more slowly. This can cause color differences with parts that are directly exposed to sunlight. Platowood has developed the Weathered Color Stain to make the aging process aesthetically even. The facade parts are grayed at the factory.
This layer will slowly degrade while the underlying wood naturally grays. Bart Raymann, commercial director, Platowood, said, "This natural-looking pre-graying agent will overcome the visual transition from brown wood to a graying facade. Weathered Color Stain does not require touch-ups. Besides cleaning, both the coating and the wood are completely maintenance-free."
Platowood has been a pioneer in the wood industry since its inception. It is the first and only company in the world that makes sustainable wood by hydro-thermal modification (platonizing). Platonizing strengthens the properties present in the wood, without chemical additives. This makes Platowood's wood the most sustainable choice for cladding, window frames and interior construction, among other things.
