Construction is becoming faster and faster, and the use of prefabricated facade elements is also on the rise. Bostik, one of the world's leading adhesive and sealant specialists, knows about that. The Paneltack™ system is suitable for attaching a wide variety of (insulated) wall panels to a substructure,
mostly aluminum battens.
"Think of HPL, aluminum composite materials, fiber cement boards, pressed mineral wool, ceramics, concrete and facade insulation boards," Van der Most clarifies. "Like our other adhesives, Paneltack is tested and certified according to ETA 004:2000 and can therefore be used as an insulation panel adhesive without additional mechanical fixings. This means that assembly can be done quickly, easily and cleanly. Unlike bricklaying, for example, you can cover an area of three square meters in one go with bonding. With or without a seam, according to the aesthetic wishes of the architect. Panels are glued with a ventilated cavity, so do not create thermal bridges."
The adhesive system consists of Paneltack adhesive, a number of primers for optimal adhesion and a foam tape that simultaneously serves as a spacer and for initial bonding during assembly.
Van der Most: "So the panels will not sag under their own weight immediately after installation. Paneltack is a moisture-curing adhesive based on SMP technology (silane-modified polymers; ed.) and is free of solvents and isocyanates. The adhesive cures but does not age and can accommodate cyclic expansion and contraction due to environmental influences unhindered. Paneltack is also excellent for fixing cuffs, fascias, eaves, ceilings, awnings, parapets and frame fillings."
In addition to wallboard bonding, Bostik sees an advance of stone strip bonding.
Van der Most: "Façade elements are increasingly prefabricated and this also applies to the elements to which stone strips are glued. We have developed a permanently elastic assembly adhesive for this purpose, again based on SMP technology, which can absorb virtually all movements and deformations of the substrate and is therefore suitable for virtually all substrates. And, of course, also perfectly applicable on the construction site. The adhesive is fast, dust-free, odorless and easy to apply, has a strong initial adhesion and is also crack-bridging. Bostik Stonetack is UV and weather resistant and no corrosion occurs when bonding to or from metal. So you can safely say that this is also a very durable method of fastening with a favorable total cost of ownership. But that applies to all our products."
