Architectural aluminum: waterslaps and composite plates

Comhan is a manufacturer and wholesaler of aluminum products for construction and industry. Water slides in all colors, sizes and inclinations

"Among other things, we will soon be showing our aluminum water sills at Polyclose. This is a cheap, very durable and low-maintenance alternative to solid sills. They are also easy to attach thanks to our handy click system. We supply these water layers in three different series, the 40SL, 30SL and 35SL, with inclination angles of 5°, 10° and 15° respectively. The numbers 40, 30 and 35 indicate the height in millimeters of the nose of the profile, and each series is available in various widths. We can anodize or paint the water stops in any color upon request, and cut them to size if necessary."

It is actually at the architect's drawing board that the most appropriate slope angle and width are determined. According to Guido, this is not only a functional choice, namely to keep the facade clean, but also an aesthetic one.

"You can make watercourses a beautiful architectural detail in the facade. Because we can provide truly customized solutions, our watercourses are also very suitable for renovation projects. And to seal the headers watertight, we nowadays also supply sliding headers. These special head plates are fitted with rubber and thus ensure a good seal. This significantly reduces the risk of waterlogging and eliminates the need for sealant. In addition, the customer can also (have) the water layers fitted with self-adhesive anti-drum foil to reduce the ticking sound of rain on the water layers."

Aluminum composite sheets with folded edges

Another gem from Comhan's range is the aluminum composite plate (ACP), available in a variety of thicknesses and colors. Aluminum composite sheets consist of two very thin aluminum sheets with polyethylene or a fire-retardant mineral core between them. They are very stiff and flat, lightweight, weather and corrosion resistant, easy to process and fully recyclable. They are used as facade material but also in the world of interior and sign (advertising and exhibition construction).

Sales Engineer Corad Mank: "For this beautiful sheet material, we purchased a new 'milling-folding' machine, which creates a tightly folded edge in one operation. It mills the entire sheet down to the bottom aluminum cover plate and then bends it in a continuous motion. A nice finish, so the core of the plate is no longer visible. In addition, we can also make a plate with overlap for even more possibilities."
