A textbook example of lead by example is Snowball. Since February 2020, this co-creation hub around everything cleantech has been housed on a large site in Harelbeke (BE) (12000m²) that breathes all green energy. Large glass windows welcome daylight into the office for added comfort. DUCO's aluminum louvers proved to be a perfect fit to keep the office from overheating in the summer.
There are 40 smart charging stations in the parking lot, the roof looks like it's made of solar panels, and a high-tech 300,000-liter ice buffer ensures an even, pleasant temperature winter and summer. The site is also completely CO2 neutral. The underlying message? Companies are demonstrating that sustainable technology works, that energy-neutral business is possible and that co-creating pays off.
During the winter months, incident solar rays provide a welcome amount of heat energy. But that too has its downsides. To prevent overheating during the hotter summer months, it is best to avoid direct sunlight on windows as much as possible. In this case, the architectural shading system - DucoSun Cubic - fortunately provides relief.
A reduction in cooling load to 63% and a significant drop in temperature, without having to deploy an energy-consuming cooling system."
