For individual design ideas made of glass, Solarlux has been the right place for you for more than 35 years. The company's product range is broad and deep at the same time. Thus conservatories, terrace roofs, glass folding walls, balconies and facades, horizontal sliding walls and sliding windows and doors are part of the company's core product range. Customized quality solutions manufactured in the company's own production halls at the Solarlux Campus in Melle, Germany, serving private individuals, architects, specialist retailers and housing associations. Increasingly, this applies to Solarlux balcony and gallery glazing. Consultant architects Jan Jaap Hofstra explains why.
Solarlux offers its customers a welcome total package and takes care of all concerns surrounding the supply of first-class glass products. From design and production to work preparation and project supervision. "We do everything ourselves and like to take care of the complete management for our clients," says Hofstra on behalf of Solarlux Netherlands, which operates from Nijverdal. "In this way, we not only relieve the customer, it also allows us to plan our work very accurately and guarantee the quality of our products."
One of the product groups with which Solarlux is currently making significant inroads is its extensive range of balcony and gallery glazing. A specialty of the house that is becoming increasingly popular. The reason is crystal clear.
"The regulations surrounding balcony glazing have tightened considerably in recent years," Hofstra said. "Think about noise on facades, daylighting and ventilation. We specifically respond to this development. We have been doing this for some time with our standard sliding and pivoting sliding systems, products that provide optimal protection on every balcony. With the Modular balcony glazing system, however, we have also been offering a fully-fledged turnkey solution for the most diverse high-rise projects for some time now. This involves a prefabricated composite frame in which the balustrade and frame are united into one solid whole. Whether or not in combination with our sliding or turn-and-slide systems. And the processor benefits fully from this."
"For example, the assembly time is firmly reduced because the product arrives ready-made at the construction site. Furthermore, the system reduces the risk of errors and can be placed in front of the façade instead of being stacked on top of the balcony slabs. Resulting in less weight loading. In addition, Modular gives more adjustability than a conventional glazed balcony railing. These are nice extras that save both time and money."
The application possibilities of the Modular balcony glazing system are very diverse. Not surprisingly, the invention has already been applied at various project locations. Like in Gorinchem, where the Piazzaflat was successfully renovated using Modular in combination with an SL25 turn-and-slide balcony glazing system.
"The project had a multiple purpose," says Hofstra. "First of all, the facade of the building had to be given a more attractive appearance. At the same time, the outdoor space had to be improved and gas consumption had to be reduced significantly. In all this we succeeded perfectly thanks to Modular. Not only has energy consumption within the building been reduced by as much as 50 percent, it has also become a lot more pleasant to live in and look at."
