Powerful, aesthetically pleasing and comfortable into 2019!

Visitors at BAU 2019 in Munich could not ignore the booth of Woelm GmbH from Heiligenhaus. The company now needs no further introduction, even in the Netherlands the professional falls for the products marketed under the HELM and KWS brand names. KWS includes hardware for revolving doors, entrance gates and interior applications, in steel, aluminum and stainless steel. KWS supplies everything around the door, from door hardware, door stops and buffers, handrail supports to footrest rail systems.

That innovation is highly valued at Woelm (KMS and HELM) was something visitors to the booth could experience firsthand. We spoke with Reinoud van der Kroon, consultant in the Netherlands for
Woelm (KMS and HELM) a tour of salient issues.

Automated and comfortable outdoor solutions
"Woelm (KMS and HELM) offers innovative and appropriate solutions for everything related to the outdoor area," Van der Kroon opens the conversation. "Whether it's garage doors, carports, hardware for house doors or sliding shutters, we stand for reliable products that can be used around the home."

Our eye catches the KWS SmartTouch door handle. Van der Kroon explains, "SmartTouch offers maximum comfort at the entrance door. With an active transponder in place, the door unlocks by merely touching the handle. The system automatically recognizes to whom access may be granted. The receiving module identifies the person approaching the door. Then the receiver module checks whether the transponder has been assigned the correct rights to enter. After touching the door handle, the door is motorized to unlock. Those who want to open the door from a distance can do so by pressing a button on the transponder or via an App, all is SmartHome ready. Comfort and security go hand in hand with this KWS development."

Operating sliding shutters is now easier than ever
A sliding shutter only becomes truly functional when it can be motorized to open and close. At BAU 2019, Woelm (KMS and HELM) showed for the first time the new drive technology for the HELM sliding shutter system, in the form of a powerful 230 V motor that can be easily programmed. The motorized sliding shutter system can handle sash weights of up to 120 kg and is prepared for SmartHome applications. Van der Kroon: "This system can be seamlessly integrated into any home automation system."

This builds a bridge to the sliding door hardware for sash weights up to 350 kg, which is also available automated. "This allows garage doors and carport entrances to be fully automated, even when elements with greater weights are involved."

Space-saving design for indoor use
HELM's new partition wall system is quite something: the HELM telescopic fittings with dampers offer the option of a sliding wall in two or three wings, in wood or glass up to 80 or 140 kg per wing. "This saves space," outlines Van der Kroon. "The hardware is suitable for a clear opening of up to 6 meters. Another solution that works very space-saving is the HELM 73 WT wall cassette assembly, where the sashes disappear into the wall."
