Deceuninck showcases clever product innovations at Polyclose 2022

Deceuninck, leading producer of plastic and aluminum profiles for windows and doors, was present at the biennial Polyclose trade fair in Ghent in September. On three stands - including a new demo stand - visitors were introduced to innovations in plastic and aluminum ranges and the launch of a 100 percent recycled plastic profile. During the fair, Deceuninck also received two Kiwa Covenants as proof of sustainable enterprise.

Synergy between aluminum and plastic

Today, architects and building owners no longer think "mono," but rather "hybrid. When choosing profiles for windows and doors, plastic and aluminum are increasingly being integrated into one building. For example, one can integrate plastic systems in the living and sleeping areas, while the pivoting entrance door and wall-to-wall sliding windows are made of aluminum. At Polyclose, Deceuninck demonstrated how it applies this hybrid thinking in practice. The Elegant and Decalu product lines are perfectly combinable, maximizing the advantages of each system - such as dimensional stability, thermal insulation, resistance.

"A fair like Polyclose is the ideal platform for us to explain our vision of hybrid building" confirms Bernard Vanderper, sales manager Western Europe. "After all, today building owners are faced with various challenges, such as higher construction budgets and increasingly stringent energy performance standards. Add to this the need for maximum architectural freedom, and you realize that with the synergy between Elegant and Decalu, we can offer them an ideal solution."

"Of course, we also want to convince manufacturers and installers fully of the advantages of hybrid applications" continues Bernard. "We convince manufacturers by citing the lower production cost because we process aluminum and plastic profiles in the same way, with the same fittings and the same conceptual approach (with all seals and insulators already incorporated in the profiles). And with our installers, we can excel with significant time savings when installing glass in the window frames, because aluminum profiles also already have glass battens with seals."

Launching 100% recycled plastic profiles

In addition to hybrid construction, circularity is also gaining momentum. Circular construction is becoming the new standard, and Deceuninck is already well prepared for it. Since 2012, the manufacturer in Diksmuide has been recycling plastic, making it the largest recycler of hard plastic in the Benelux. In figures, it has a recycling capacity of 45,000 tons, or 2.3 million windows per year.

"We will allow Phoenix to evolve with the market" says Bernard. "As demand increases, we will expand our production. In the Netherlands, where the government strongly encourages the use of circular materials in construction projects, some Phoenix projects have already been realized. The first projects are also starting in our country, with, for example, the installation of Phoenix windows in six social housing units in Aarschot. Also for ourselves, recovery and recycling of old materials is very important, because compared to the production of new plastic raw material, this gives Deceuninck energy savings of 90 percent. And did you know that our recycled plastic can serve as a material for window and door profiles for no less than 350 years?"

Presentation of Kiwa Covenants

At Polyclose, Deceuninck received two Kiwa Covenants: a Covenant for 100 percent recycled plastic in window profiles and a Covenant for circular entrepreneurship. "We are very proud of this recognition" says Bernard. "These Covenants were awarded after an extensive audit at our sites in Gits and Diksmuide. This is the best proof that together with our customers and suppliers we are ready for the future. It motivates us to move up another gear in terms of sustainable entrepreneurship. With our new Phoenix series, by the way, we are today trendsetters offering profiles made of 100 percent recycled plastic."

Innovation table and live demos

During Polyclose, visitors could view all new Deceuninck applications at the stand's innovation table. The manufacturer also welcomed many customers and prospects to an additional booth with live demos. Project developers, installers and building owners discovered how easy it is to get started with Deceuninck's systems. Deceuninck specialists explained how glass can be glued and replaced on various profile types and how easy it is to (dis)assemble glass slats on Decalu windows. The demo stand also featured the first system solutions of the Elegant and Decalu profiles with Fineo vacuum glass.

"Also, our manual tool to remove the seal and remove glass slats without damaging the window on aluminum windows and doors offers our customers a lot of added value." concludes Bernard.
