With the introduction of the COMFORT UNIT lift-slide door package with pre-assembled fiberglass-reinforced plastic (GRP) sill and PORTAL hardware, SIEGENIA is effectively transferring its one-stop-shop idea for optimal lift-slide door assembly to the timber industry. “The COMFORT UNIT lift-slide door system is complete in every respect,” says Marten van Dijk, Technical Coordinator at SIEGENIA. “Installing a lift-slide door has never been easier! Processors no longer need to cut or pre-drill materials themselves. This saves time, reduces assembly risks and offers practical convenience such as reduced inventory management. Moreover, waste and sawing losses are not an issue.” The GRP sill has been successfully tested to wind/water tightness class 9A (up to a pressure of 600 Pa).
SIEGENIA's COMFORT UNIT package has been catching the eye of plastic and aluminum processors for years, Van Dijk knows. “With the introduction of our glass fiber reinforced plastic (GRP) sill, this package is now also becoming available to the Dutch wood processing industry, which demands specific dimensions. A KOMO certificate is in preparation.”
Fiberglass-reinforced plastic is very hard, scratch- and wear-resistant and guarantees a low U-value. “Those who choose SIEGENIA's COMFORT UNIT package also benefit from all the advantages of our one-stop-shop concept,” Van Dijk said. “Also in the wood processing
industry. Following on from the new GRP sill, our PORTAL hardware is also delivered fully customized and, where possible, ready to install. This assures processors of a single point of contact, a single supplier and a single guarantor for the complete lift-slide door package. Failure costs due to dimensional differences are not an issue. In addition, our COMFORT UNIT package enables significantly faster lift-slide door assembly.”

The processor only has to pass on the size of the lift-slide door to SIEGENIA, he emphasizes. “Based on this, the lift-slide door sill, guide rail, runners, espagnolette and connecting rods are cut to the exact length, pre-drilled and pre-assembled where possible, after which they are delivered in one ready-to-assemble package. On request, all components can also be finished in black, which also allows us to respond to the aesthetic wishes of the market. That too makes our package unique.”

The COMFORT UNIT package for wooden lift-slide doors was introduced to the market at the beginning of this year. The first reactions are laudatory, says Van Dijk. “With the package we are clearly responding to a need. People find the GRP sills very easy to process. And the one-stop-shop idea can also count on a lot of appreciation.” However, this does not mean that SIEGENIA is finished now. “The GRP sill will also be available in the second quarter of 2026 in a COMFORT UNIT lift-slide door package for the plastics processing industry. Next summer we will additionally introduce an ECO SLIDE CO package for wooden sliding doors, which will include the same GRP sill.” To be continued, no doubt.
