The Bosch Architecture Initiative (BAI) plays an important role in increasing involvement in urban developments in 's-Hertogenbosch, through activities such as lectures and debates, for example. BAI recently received a check for 2,500 euros from Reynaers Aluminium, after being chosen as a good-architecture goal by the winners of the Reynaers Project Prize 2024.
The public chooses the winner of the Reynaers Project Prize, an architectural award that has been in existence for 28 years. The winning architect then chooses a good architectural cause for a donation. This time it was the architectural firms Voss Architecture, HILBERINKBOSCH Architects and Bedaux de Brouwer Architects who won the architecture prize last year with the Amadeiro project in 's-Hertogenbosch. And so they chose BAI. With the check of 2,500.00 euros, BAI wants to start giving children/youth workshops, in order to resume their educational programs.
Bosch Architecture Initiative (BAI) is a non-profit organization dedicated to promoting the quality of the built environment in and around 's-Hertogenbosch. Since 1995, BAI has been committed to engaging in dialogue about architecture and the living environment, strengthening the network of professional colleagues. They do this through various programs, such as lectures, visits, film series and debates.
Roel van Lent, chairman at BAI, Stan Wagter, program maker and Arjan van Boekel, board member, received the check worth 2,500 euros from Hans van der Looij, Sales & Marketing Manager of Reynaers Aluminium. From his architectural firm, Roel is one of those involved in BAI. "For me it is important that people are happy in their environment. I can apply this well both in my own work as an architect and at BAI. At BAI it is nice to see how different groups come together and discuss to achieve an optimal living environment" he says.
With their projects, BAI increases involvement in the city of 's-Hertogenbosch, explains developments, and provides a platform for discussion about them. In this way they contribute to the quality of the built environment in and around 's-Hertogenbosch. Roel, Stan and Arjan believe that deepening understanding in the design of the living environment, and engaging in conversations about it, have a positive influence on planning. "In addition, we would like to conduct research together with or for involved parties in Den Bosch," Stan says. "The results of the research and program should help policy makers plan for the future of Den Bosch." BAI plans to spend the money received on children/youth workshops. "In recent years our education activities have unfortunately been on the back burner despite the fact that as BAI we are happy to fulfill this social function," said Roel.
