'Best of the Best' award for barrier-free sill

Every year, the red dot design awards highlight products that stand out for their innovative character, design, quality and durability, among other things. The ECO PASS SKY axxent, SIEGENIA GROUP's barrier-free floor sill for lift-slide elements made of wood-aluminum, was awarded the red dot Best of the Best 2020 award for its exceptional design. Like the other ECO PASS floor thresholds, this product also excels for its perfect fit and easy handling.

Since 1955, the Design Zentrum Nordrhein Westphalia awarded the Red Dot Awards to products that stand out for their innovative character, design, quality and durability. A jury of internationally renowned designers, architects and design experts judged 6,500 products from as many as 60 countries this year. Only 1% of all entries received a red dot award, proof that only the most progressive and groundbreaking solutions receive awards. The ECO PASS SKY axxent, SIEGENIA's barrier-free floor sill for lift-slide elements made of wood-aluminum, was awarded the Red Dot Best of the Best 2020 award for its exceptional design.

"We are very proud of this highest possible award at the Red Dot Award: Product Design 2020″, says Christoph Scheuring, product manager PORTAL at SIEGENIA. "In developing this floor threshold, our objective was to set a new standard in terms of design and barrier-free passage, taking into account a perfect connection and water drainage. This award is proof that we have succeeded in this."

A unique design and a perfect connection

ECO PASS SKY axxent, the floor sill for lift-slide elements made of wood-aluminum by SIEGENIA, combines aesthetics and barrier freedom. The barrier-free sill and the integration of the running rail into the wood provide a flush passage to the outside and combine this with unique design features that make large glass units made of wood-aluminum a real eye-catcher.

"For example, the floor sill is optically matched to the material of the windows, resulting in a uniform and elegant design. Furthermore, the design of the fixed sash stands out. The recess in the profiles of this sash ensures that the glass reaches all the way to the floor, maximizing the glass surface and optimizing light incidence," explains the product manager.

"The tested burglar resistance of the ECO PASS SKY axxent and the PORTAL HS, SIEGENIA's hardware for lift-slide systems, prevents unwanted visitors from entering. Even in the RC2 version, the barrier-free passage is maintained."

The grilles for the water drainage and the drainage channel also match perfectly in design. Like the other ECO PASS floor thresholds, this product also excels with its perfect connection, easy handling and unprecedented safety and reliability. The high-quality construction including sealing plates and bottom profiles, complemented by the drainage channel required by regulations, ensures maximum watertightness.

A place in the Red Dot Design Museum

The ECO PASS SKY axxent will be on display at the Red Dot Design Museum in Essen. "In this exhibition - almost 4,000 m² spread over five floors - our barrier-free floor threshold will be given a place among other outstanding, innovative products, which have been awarded a Red Dot Design Award over the years, concludes Christoph Scheuring.
