An office building on Postjesweg in Amsterdam had to make way for a new housing project. On the corner with Derkinderenstraat in Amsterdam Overtoomse Veld now stands a brand new residential facility in a city where that is certainly not unnecessary. It involves no less than 221 homes in a challenging location.
The new buildings contain rental apartments and the first floor also has commercial facilities. The residential complexes, designed by Geurst and Schulze, are a valuable addition to the city with their characterful facade stone. A pressing need for good housing endorses the importance of the project.
Residential housing in a city naturally presents unique challenges. These are multiplied in a metropolis like Amsterdam. In particular, how to get enough fresh air into a home was high on the agenda. Preferably also without making life difficult for the residents with city noise.
In fact, excessive noise is a bigger disruptor in our lives than you might think. Poor acoustics in the home can affect your ability to concentrate and your stress levels. The latter, in turn, can lead to increased blood pressure and a higher risk of cardiovascular disease. This is unacceptable in the very place where you want to relax at the end of the day.
To solve that problem, a solution from DUCO was chosen: the DUCO Acoustic Panel. A sound-damping recessed wall grille that is always custom-made. It provides acoustic attenuation of up to 17dB using sound-absorbing, non-flammable mineral wool. The custom design ensures that the DUCO Acoustic Panel always blends nicely into the look of the project. Such is the case on the new Postjesweg homes. Seamless integration with the fenestration creates a uniform and
tight facade appearance.
The result can be seen. The residents of the brand-new residential complex can enjoy their new home with an optimal indoor climate and, what's more, without outside disturbances!
