Unpacking innovation in product, service and look

Color configurator and product-specific SPDs also in the spotlight

Dr. Hahn's booth at Fensterbau Frontale (Hall 1 - Booth 319) is once again dominated by innovation. The German door hinge specialist is popping out with a number of recent developments, such as the KT-Rollband series for plastic and the Clamp Band AT and the concealed hinge VL-Band G for aluminum. In addition, Dr. Hahn is introducing a completely new look and visitors can discover the new color configurator and product-specific EPDs.

“After a few years of continuity, it was time for a new inviting concept. We have already modernized our corporate identity in our documentation in recent months,” says Walter Back, general sales director and member of the board of directors. “We have now extended this look to our exhibition stand as well.”

The manufacturer of door hinges from Mönchengladbach is now focusing even more on the new products in its communication. All models are presented on individual modules. In between, space is provided where the team can receive visitors for information on the various products, including a lot of new developments, and advice on the suitable solution for each specific project. 

VL-Band G in premiere

Among the innovations for the German market, the specialist will show, among other things, the KT Roller Strap series for plastic profiles and the Clamp Strap AT for applications with aluminum doors. “Two years ago, almost 2/3 of the visitors came from abroad. It is therefore the event to present our new developments to industry professionals,” says Back. “For the new concealed hinge VL-Band G it will even be a premiere in Germany.”

The Hahn VL band G is the first hinge in the VL system that is held firmly in place with clamps. Drilling or milling at the sash profile is thus no longer necessary. The hinge disappears completely into the frame. Since no machining is required on the sash side, processing in the workshop is faster. One only needs to prepare the frame. It is suitable for profiles with Euro or 16 mm groove. The version for the 16 mm groove is clamped on the frame side and fastened on the sash side with four drilling screws.

Two hinges can support weights of up to 120 kg. As a result, this hinge can be used for most applications in private residential construction. Profile systems with building depths from 60 mm and widths of 40 mm provide sufficient space for the hinge to disappear on the inside. No special tools are required for installation. One can simply screw in the systems until everything is in the correct position. Any disassembly is also done smoothly. Two high-quality hinges allow precise and easy alignment directly on the installed door leaf. After all, they are adjustable in six directions. Moreover, they are suitable for left and right-handed doors and for inward and outward opening doors.

Product-specific SPDs

“In addition to the product novelties, we also expect a lot of conversations about our new EPDs,” Walter Back enthuses about another highlight. “We have created our own Environmental Product Declaration (EPD) for our hinges. Unlike the current industry EPD, it does not reflect average values, but the actual, mostly better environmental performance of the products. The EPD shows the ecological impact over the entire life cycle: from raw material extraction and production to recycling and waste disposal.”

RAL color configurator

Finally, Dr. Hahn is introducing a color configurator. With this, they support dealers in their online shops and door manufacturers in selecting the appropriate color. With this configurator, all RAL colors can be selected for each hinge in the range. The desired color is entered via the RAL number or by free text entry. The hinge in the adjacent box then changes to the selected hue.
