System solutions for barrier-free accessibility

Your buildings accessible to all

There are increasing demands on buildings. Also in terms of accessibility. Barrier-free systems respond to this and ensure that buildings are accessible to all.

Not all entrance doors are the same, knows Marc van Oijen, Architectural Advisor at GU Netherlands. "Depending on the type of building and the users, individual solutions are needed. For example, there are different requirements for exterior and interior doors. You expect something different from a door in a hospital than from a door in a school, hotel or private home. In addition to being familiar with the latest laws and regulations, we at GU can also put ourselves in the shoes of the users. Thanks to our extensive knowledge and experience, we know exactly which solutions fit best in different environments and for different target groups. Whether it is convenient operation or automatic opening and closing of a door: our automatic sliding doors have become the modern entrance solution for public buildings, airports, train stations, shopping malls, banks, hospitals and residential and care complexes, among others."

A sampling of various system components:

CompactMaster Series

The automatic sliding doors of the CompactMaster series not only have an elegant appearance, but are also extremely reliable:

- CM-F: redundant drive with twin motor technology for use in escape and rescue routes;

- CM-F WK2: tested sliding door in accordance with EN1627 in combination with safety glass P4A, automatic multipoint locking AMV and components that prevent lifting;

- Noiseless due to large track rollers and replaceable tread with rubber bearing;

- Self-learning control with extensive connection and setting options;

Radar motion sensor

GU's innovative radar motion sensor monitors the passage area of the sliding door. For this purpose, the sensor uses a so-called infrared light curtain. The door can also be opened manually with a button.

HS ePower lift-and-slide door

To increase living comfort and guarantee maximum light, architects are increasingly opting for large lift-slide doors. Here, a weight of 300 kilograms is no exception, according to Van Oijen. "Our HS ePower is an excellent choice in this case. This lift-slide door combines GU hardware with a motor-controlled drive and a completely barrier-free passage. All components are concealed except for the control panel, which can be operated intuitively by lightly tapping the three buttons. The door can also be operated via remote control." The system automatically detects obstacles and prevents the door from jamming.

The HS ePower can be easily integrated into various building management systems and meets the barrier-free requirements of DIN 18040. Areas of application include upscale residences, life-proof homes and assisted living complexes.

The OTS 73x FL free swing door closer

In turn, the OTS 73x FL freewheeling door closer ensures barrier-free, effortless passage of doors in fire separations. The integrated electrical freewheeling function can be activated as early as an opening angle of 0°. "This type of door closer ensures that the door always moves freely, as if there were no door closer at all," says Van Oijen. "In the event of a fire, however, safe and reliable closing is guaranteed at all times. This makes the OTS 73x FL free-running door closer perfect for use on fire-rated doors in schools, hospitals and residential and healthcare complexes, among others." Of course, the OTS 73x FL freestanding door closer complies with the standards of barrier-free construction (DIN SPEC 1104 and DIN 18040).

DTN 80 automatic swing door operator

This swing door operator is designed to open and close doors automatically with quiet and smooth operation. With adjustable speed and force settings, the user experience can be fully customized to meet specific needs and requirements, Van Oijen said. "Access is easily controlled via a radar motion detector, push-button switch or access control system. This ensures barrier-free access, intrusion protection and a safe escape route." GU Group's wide product range offers architects and planners great flexibility. In addition, the DTN 80 is suitable for all door types and can also be installed on existing doors.
