It continues to shape its current activities while at the same time making a strong commitment to the environment and society which translates into the establishment of sustainable objectives.
For the sake of future generations and nature, industry - especially the construction industry - must become more involved in the "fight for a better future. According to studies by The World
Economic Forum and Boston Consulting Group (2021), the construction sector is responsible for 10% of global greenhouse gas emissions. As part of the announced strategy, Aluprof is putting more effort into activities to promote sustainable development. Among the company's many commitments, environmental and social goals stand out in particular: the Cradle to Cradle certification and the further improvement of production processes (as part of the ISO 14001 environmental management system).
The company implements numerous initiatives to reduce any negative impact of its business activities on the milIeu. Aluprof has mapped the carbon footprint of its products and proposed some sustainability commitments. Among the company's many fine ambitions is the aspiration to become climate neutral.
EU countries have translated their ambitions into the European Green Deal. One of these ambitions is climate neutrality, which can be achieved, among other things, by producing low-carbon products in a circular economy, among other things. Aluprof has been devising innovative solutions aimed at sustainable construction for decades. The company's aluminum systems are used in the most prestigious projects around the world. Their degree of sustainability is reflected in the certifications obtained: BREEAM, LEED, DGNB and Well. Examples include the Mennica Legacy Tower in Warsaw, Concordia Design in Wrocław and the recently opened Hard Rock hotel in Budapest. The company continues to develop its range of energy-efficient and passive products. In order to further promote these products, Aluprof aims to increase the share of its solutions in projects with BREEAM or LEED certifications by 20% by 2025.
The idea of sustainable business development also includes those activities related to environmental protection, employee safety and deployment, supply chain responsibility and involvement in the local community. "We implement those initiatives through the Grupa Kęty foundation. This is an important part of our strategy. Our ambition is to be climate neutral by 2050 at the latest and to reduce the carbon footprint by 15% by 2025," said Emmanuel Gregoire, Managing Director of Aluprof Belgium NV.
"Reducing the carbon footprint, even on a small scale in your own household, is of great importance. We must not forget that by making conscious choices and buying low-carbon products, we contribute to protecting the environment and decarbonizing the world. Each of us can try to reduce our personal carbon footprint. Just by changing a few habits, our impact on the environment can become a lot more positive. For example, it pays to choose ecological products and pay attention to the certificates of the products you buy."
In the case of Aluprof, the calculated carbon dioxide emissions per ton of products have a very low value: 2.79 tCO2e for low-emission aluminum ingots produced at Kęty's plants on the LOW CARBON KęTY production lines. By comparison, the production of 1 ton of primary aluminum in the world is associated with average emissions of 16.7 tCO2e: almost six times higher. These low emissions were achieved through the use of modern machinery in the manufacturing process and a high content of secondary raw materials - recycled aluminum scrap at an average level of 65%.
Aluprof has also subjected its products to independent environmental verification by the Institute of Building Technology, which has developed environmental declarations, the so-called EPDs (Environmental
Product Declaration).
"We are fighting together to reduce greenhouse gas emissions and increase energy efficiency in construction. We also know how important it is to recycle and use renewable energy sources. All our activities are in line with the principles of the European Green Deal and the vision of Sustainable Development of the World," added Emmanuel Gregoire, Managing Directorof Aluprof Belgium NV.
The implementation of Aluprof SA's new long-term strategy is also accompanied by a rebranding. The new logo is more contemporary and adapted to current and future trends. It expresses our strength for innovation, decades of experience and utmost care for the environment.
"I am convinced that, if we all work together, we will succeed in building a better future for our planet, our industry and for future generations," emphasizes Tomasz Grela, CEO of Aluprof S.A. The revamped logo is complemented by the slogan "Let's build a better future" which - as can be seen in the meantime - thus encompasses the company's most distinguished ambitions.
