Locking technology now also with innovative multi-point locking system

The range comprises a total of two series of locks, with multipoint locks designed for use in both single- and double-leaf escape doors made of aluminum or steel. A third series without panic function will follow later this year.

Market offers opportunities for innovative locking systems

Until now, WILKA was primarily known as a manufacturer of high-quality one-point locking devices and innovative cylinder technology. "However, we have been very intensively engaged in market research in recent years. According to the results of these surveys, the market offers many opportunities for innovative locking systems. For us this was the reason to 'really step on the gas' in the development of multi-point locks and present a system that can cover almost all areas of application, so that the customer can really get everything from one source in the true sense of the word. A clear advantage, of course, was that we already had a large part of the necessary production process in Velbert," describes Product Manager Eldar Halilovic.

"In addition, further investments have been made in recent months to increase production efficiency and keep delivery times consistently short, even at high utilization rates."

Practical advantages for the processor

The new range consists of key-operated multi-point locks with escape door function, the 8600 series, and self-closing variants of the 8700 series. With the 8700 series, it is sufficient to simply pull the door closed, as a manual lock is no longer required after this. Moreover, the multi-point locking has a tamper-proof latching sequence control in the main lock, which means that no additional release mechanisms are needed for the auxiliary locks and no special locking plates are required. Consideration has also been given to the issue of retrofitting.

If an electronic upgrade to a door is ever desired, the 8700 Series multi-point lock can simply be equipped with an automatic opener. This is an attractively priced alternative to the motor lock. With such an opener, the door can be unlocked automatically, motorized and in seconds, even with access control if needed and walk function. In combination with an emergency power supply, this variant is then also suitable for smoke and fire doors.

For the processor, there are many advantages for both the 8600 and 8700 series, for example, only one lock is needed to fill four versions, the escape door side (outward/ inward) and the direction of rotation (DL/DR) in all escape door functions can be set to the situation.

In addition, there are individual application possibilities within the 8000 series, for example through lock cases with uniformly milled dimensions. A rear mandrel size of 15 mm allows flexible use even in narrow profiles.

An integrated tolerance in the striker plate ensures light operation of the lock and also ensures that all shots function reliably even if the door is sagged by up to 5 mm. A plus in security: with the optional two counter-rotating hook bolts in both the key-operated and self-locking variants, higher security classes (up to RC 3) can be achieved than are generally the case.

It goes without saying that the WILKA multi-point locks of the new 8000 series meet all relevant standards.
