Our company's aluminum facade system and window-door systems have been rated with the Cradle to Cradle Certified™ bronze certificate. The main goal of the certification process conducted by the document's issuer - the Cradle to Cradle Product Innovation Institute - is to encourage innovation and design of products that have a positive impact on people and the environment.

About the concept of Cradle to Cradle

The Cradle to Cradle Certified™ certificate is an internationally recognized benchmark for safer and more sustainable solutions for the circular economy. Designers, manufacturers and brands around the world rely on the standard of Cradle to Cradle Certified™ certified products to create a breakthrough in the design and manufacture of materials that positively impact people and the planet. Cradle to Cradle Certified™ is also considered the preferred standard for responsible purchasing decisions.

Translated from English means Cradle to Cradle (C2C) literally, "cradle to cradle." This concept means that all components of the product can be recycled. The concept is described by William McDonough and Michael Braungart in the book "Cradle to Cradle: Remaking the Way We Make Things". In it, the authors describe the concept of moving away from the industry's popular cradle-to-grave-scheme, where the life cycle of a product ends with the removal of the remaining waste (production, use, disposal). The new doctrine assumes the reuse of materials already used in previous production and the transition to a circular economic model. C2C suggests that industry should protect and enrich ecosystems and nature's biological metabolism while maintaining a safe and effective product life cycle.

Bronze certificate Cradle to Cradle Certified™ for systems from ALUPROF

ALUPROF not only conducted a voluntary certification of the production process and organizational management, but also subjected the designed systems and their suppliers to a detailed analysis. The assessment was carried out by experts from SGS, the world leader in inspection, verification, testing and certification.

To receive Cradle to Cradle certification, products are assessed for environmental and social performance in five critical sustainability categories: material safety, material reuse, renewable energy and carbon management, water management and social justice. The product is assigned a performance level (bronze, silver, gold or platinum) for each category. The standard encourages continuous improvement (certification based on increasing levels of performance) and requires that certification be renewed every two years. ALUPROF systems that have passed the Cradle to Cradle certification process at the "bronze" level include the facade system MB-SR50N HI+ and the window and door systems MB-86 SI, MB-86 Casement and MB-86 ST, as well as MB-70, MB-70 HI and MB-70 Casement.

Certification areas

The Cradle to Cradle Certified™ standard encompasses the assessment of business management practices in the area of value and supply chains in terms of innovation and optimization of materials and products according to the most advanced, science-based, available resources in the areas of material safety, reuse of materials, renewable energy and climate, water and soil management, as well as social justice.

• The Material Safety category serves to ensure that products are made by leading designers and manufacturers from chemicals that are as safe as possible for humans and the environment, while production takes into account the inventory, assessment and optimization of the chemical composition of the material. In pursuit of full certification, manufacturers can apply for separate certification for products that meet the material safety requirements of Cradle to Cradle Certified™.
• The category "Reuse of materials" is aimed at eliminating the concept of waste - according to this principle, the product is constantly processed and reused. It does not become waste, but only changes its condition.
• The ''Renewable Energy and Climate'' category is to ensure that products are produced with renewable energy to reduce or eliminate the greenhouse gas impact on climate change caused by the production of the product.
• The Water Resources category gives water the status of a valuable resource, ensures the protection of watersheds and the availability of water for humans and other living organisms.
• In contrast, the latter category is based on the assumption that businesses should be conducted with respect for humans and the natural systems affected by the production of a given product.
