In many cases, the facade is a building's calling card. Architects and building owners therefore attach great importance to its elaboration. Alucol, specialist in the color anodizing of aluminum, creates at the request of its clients unique and durable aluminum façade elements, which are an eye-catcher in every project. The company from Neer offers its own color palette and is licensee for anodizing with Sandalor colors.
Alucol has been a major player when it comes to anodizing and coloring aluminum since 1971. The list of reference projects, where the aluminum facade always stands out and forms the physical business card of a building, is now very long.
"By anodizing aluminum, it is protected against corrosion, but also embellished, for example by a pretreatment and/or color. Unlike other surface treatments, in anodizing we do not apply a layer to the aluminum, but build up the protective layer from within the aluminum itself. In this way, the aluminum always retains its metallic aspect or metal look, which is completely different with a paint finish, for example," explains managing director Frank Veelenturf. "Different materials, such as sheets and profiles, can look completely different even if they have been treated in an identical way. Moreover, the pretreatment largely determines the look of the façade elements. For example, staining provides a matte, even finish, brushing for fine scratches, polishing for a satin shiny look and grinding for a coarse scratch texture. We combine pre-finishing and color."
Anodizing with color is Alucol's specialty. The company offers its own color palette, which includes many bronze tones of Colinal C1, C2, C3, C4, C5, C31, C32, C33, C34 and C35, as well as various gold tones. "We are also exclusive licensee in the Benelux for anodizing with the Sandalor colors. That color line includes 25 colors, ranging from warm gold, to deep red and night blue, and is specially developed for outdoor applications," the managing director clarifies. "The colors are guaranteed to be colorfast and even, because during the anodizing process we build in multiple quality controls. In addition to visual assessment, we also measure with a spectrophotometer."
Alucol would like to be involved in each project as early as possible. Together with the architect and the facade builder, the desired material, the colors, the surface treatment, the production and the logistic process are then discussed in order to guarantee an optimal final result and avoid unnecessary costs.
"In everything we do, the customer is at the center. We now have almost 50 years of experience and are happy to share our knowledge with clients," concludes Frank Veelenturf.
"With our online configurator, clients can select their own finish and color and see the result immediately. The pieces are finely anodized in our baths 7600 mm long, 350 mm wide and 1500 mm deep for color anodizing and 22000 mm long, 1300 mm wide and 2000 mm deep for natural anodizing."
