This year's "ICONIC AWARD: Innovative Architecture - Best of Best" goes to Frankfurt architectural firm KSP Jürgen Engel Architekten for the design of the FSB 1271 door handle series.
This international prize is awarded annually by the Design Council for outstanding global architecture and room design. With its FSB 1271 range, the FSB brand presents consistent design options for all areas of modern construction. Architect Jürgen Engel developed a new product family of door and window handles that consistently addresses the needs of modern project construction. A special feature here is the fact that the profile door handle, which is basically a cranked form, hardly differs visually from the other hardware in the product range.

In keeping with the architectural concept that there should be a balance between urban design standards and interior details, Jürgen Engel follows his global design standards with the FSB 1271 design. With the contrast of a light-wave flat front and the softly rounded inner contour, the program unites geometric precision and maximum hand comfort. The design of the product series is resource-friendly optimized. The grip volume remains downright pleasant: even heavy doors of large size can be opened easily and the necessary steel core is sufficiently coated in the case of fire-resistant aluminum handles.
Here the almost identical design principle of door handle, window handle and profile door handle stands out in particular. The latter is available without typical canted or discernible mitres. With its new, stringent creation FSB 1271, the Brakel-based premium manufacturer is delivering highly consistent design in all types of contemporary building projects. The door and window handles thereby comply with all relevant standards, such as the installation option to DIN 31001.
The product repertoire is available in two materials: durable and robust in solid stainless steel as well as in anodized aluminum in different surfaces, allowing for an avant-garde, soft and warm haptics.

With the "ICONIC AWARDS: Innovative Architecture," the Design Council awards visionary buildings, innovative products and sustainable communication from all areas of architecture, construction and real estate as well as the manufacturing industry. In five categories and an upper section, entries are awarded the "Selection" and Franz Schneider "Winner" labels. Outstanding entries are awarded the special recognition "Best of Best."
FSB is synonymous the world over with aesthetically and functionally sophisticated hardware solutions for doors and windows, electronic access solutions and barrier-free sanitary fittings. Architects and building owners prefer to turn to products from Brakel because they find in FSB an unmistakable understanding of modern building requirements and a high level of design expertise: everything to do with grips and handles in the interior is operated from a single source.
