Fine work in an office building where the sun shines!

Large windows? In summer, does it get very hot inside? Sun rays obstruct the view of your computer or TV screen? Recognizable, but not insoluble. The DucoSlide LuxFrame XXL sun protection system can handle heights of up to 6 meters. You can find an application of this in an office building in Ostend (B).

It is impossible to be unhappy at work in the office building of the social housing company Gelukkige Haard in Ostend. The employees there benefit from a workplace with sustainable solutions and from the DucoSlide LuxFrame XXL shading system that provides optimal heat and light suppression.

Office building in response on construction challenges

One thing is certain: in the year 2020, buildings with thick insulation packages and large windows are unthinkable. That also applies to this new construction project.

Sara Casteur, director of 'De Gelukkige Haard': "We chose insulation material 18cm thick. With our office building we aimed for energy neutrality. So heating is provided with heat pumps. It had to and would become a modern and pleasant workplace. One with an answer to the challenges we face today."

Architectural blinds for large window areas

"In the office, there was the possibility of passive cooling with a maximum temperature difference of 3 degrees," Casteur continued. "But due to the large window surfaces, this was not performant. It was therefore decided to turn to Duco's XXL-sized aluminum sliding panels. To keep out the solar heat and lower the temperature in the workspace. But also because this shading system is a perfect match for the building."

Outdoor blinds for indoor comfort

To keep out sunlight at the most undesirable times, the aluminum sliding shutters are equipped with Ellipse 150 slats. These wing-shaped slats lie at a 45° angle, thus keeping the heat out optimally. They also allow sunlight to enter filtered. In this way, you couple a sleek facade appearance with extra comfortable indoor comfort. Sara Casteur concludes: "Whether I am satisfied? I catch nothing but rave reviews about the integration of the blinds."
