Marleen Valstar and Kevin Odijk of Heyligers Architects explain the design for the renovation and expansion of the Ronald McDonald House in Amsterdam. The characteristic shape of an archetypal house plays an important role: “It emphasizes the function of a second home for the families who use it temporarily.” We made a house of with aluminum windows with large glass sections in them. The new main building consists of two separate house forms that symbolize the parent and the child. The project was realized under the VMRG Seal of Approval.
