Leading producers and distributors of wood-based building materials join forces in Benelux
Deli Home, a leading manufacturer and distributor of high-quality wood-based building materials, has reached a significant milestone by acquiring 50.0% of the shares of Timber Yard (www.houtwerf.nl) and with the merger of the activities of Distri-Hout (www.distrihout.be) and Deli Home Belgium. From their locations in Zoeterwoude (Netherlands) and Aalst (Belgium), Houtwerf and Distri-Hout respectively serve DIY chains, building materials wholesalers, specialty stores and construction companies in the Benelux. The proposed cooperation is subject to approval by the relevant competition authorities.
Timber Yard and Distri Wood have developed an exclusive range of sustainable and circular product lines in recent years that have minimal environmental impact during production, use, reuse or recycling.
Building on sustainable products such as Corepel flooring, CanDo green and Weekamp Deuren's fully circular BioComfort front door made of recycled edge wood with a biobased filling, Deli Home is significantly strengthening its position in Europe with the addition of sustainable building materials.
Nearly 100% of Woodyard and Distri Wood's wide range is PFEC/FSC certified. This aligns perfectly with Deli Home's ESG goals of selling only 100% PFEC/FSC-certified wood by 2025 at the latest.
Victor Aquina, CEO of Deli Home, stated, "Welcoming Wood Yard and Distri Wood to the Deli Home group marks another milestone in our growth strategy. Both companies carry a very complementary product range. We are excited about the opportunities we see for our customers with the exclusive sustainable and circular products offered by Houtwerf and Distri-Hout. In addition, we benefit from the extensive knowledge that both companies have on this very important topic. We look forward to working with our new colleagues on our ambition to become Europe's digital carpentry company."
Pieter and Henri Verbeek, managing directors of Houtwerf and Distri-Houtout, added: "We already have a very successful partnership with Deli Home in France through our joint venture AJ Timber. This transaction gives us the opportunity to accelerate our growth plans in the Benelux while maintaining the high level of service to our existing customers. We are convinced that in Deli Home we have found the right partner for the next phase of our businesses. We look forward to continuing our operations, but now with the opportunities offered by Deli Home."
Timber Yard and Distri-Wood are known for their high-quality service levels and in-depth product knowledge. From their warehouses, with a combined size of nearly 30,000m2, they serve customers in the Benelux. The companies are characterized by their innovative and entrepreneurial spirit, resulting in a product portfolio that is aligned with the latest trends in the market.
In total, Houtwerf and Distri-Hout employ about 100 people. Pieter Verbeek will continue to manage the activities of Houtwerf. Jeroen Lauwers, currently managing director of Deli Home Belgium, will become managing director for the combined activities of Distri-Hout and Deli Home Belgium where Henri Verbeek will support Jeroen Lauwers and remain contact person for customers and suppliers of Distri-Hout. As part of the intended cooperation, Houtwerf, Distri-Hout and Deli Home will focus primarily on combined logistics and innovative product management to optimally serve existing customers.
This partnership is supported by Ardian, a leading global private investment firm, which is a shareholder of Deli Home along with the management team.
Together, Deli Home, Houtwerf and Distri-Hout strive to set the standard for high-quality sustainable and circular wood-based building materials and build Europe's digital lumber mill.
