At Venster Techniek, providing responsible sill solutions goes hand-in-hand with delivering top quality. This approach is reflected not only in the company's products. In other areas, too, the company pulls out all the stops to achieve the highest possible. For example, caring for the world of tomorrow is central. It is a spearhead that is articulated with a clear environmental statement and given physical form through the VTD® Excellent hybrid sill, among other things.
Good care for our environment is practiced company-wide and throughout the entire production process at Window Engineering. This starts with a thoughtful choice of materials to be used.
"To make our sills versatile, easily applicable, well insulated, environmentally friendly and of high quality, we use different raw materials," says Herben Heino, responsible for sales within Window Technique. "For example, we mainly work with aluminum, fiberglass-reinforced polyester and HMPE. High-quality materials that are used with a keen eye for our environment and of which both production and packaging waste is 100 percent recycled. At the same time, we try to limit the volume of these waste streams as much as possible. Among other things, we use intelligent production software and package our products with a reusable wooden pallet stacking system. Furthermore, we are making great strides in terms of energy consumption. In addition to reusing heat, we are currently in the process of reducing our power needs via solar energy in the very near future."
In the VTD® Excellent, the robust hybrid sill made of fiberglass-reinforced polyester, perfectly expresses the environmentally conscious and sustainability-oriented approach of Venster Techniek. Moreover, the hybrid character of the product results in high insulation values, a very attractive finish and unprecedented ease of processing, including when painting the window frames. All this makes this invention the very best sill you can find. A more suitable name than "Excellent" could not have been given to the product.
"In this sill, we combined the excellent insulation values of wood with all the advantages of fiberglass-reinforced polyester, the most durable material for lower sills," Heino says. "And there are quite a few of those. First of all, the strong, dimensionally stable material is extremely resistant to water, sun, UV radiation, wind, rain, sand and frost. In addition, fiberglass-reinforced polyester is characterized by its light weight, good rigidity and excellent forming and processing capabilities. This is precisely why this variant, like the other VTD sills, stands for perfect drainage and aeration. An additional advantage of the VTD® Excellent is that the frame already receives a final coupling of wood on the underside of the element during the locking process. As a result, the frame construction passes stably through the
further production process."
Finally, the product offers all the plus points that are so illustrative of Venster Techniek's sill solutions. For example, interior and exterior compartments can be fitted on the same sill, any desired neutral shape is possible and the frame can be directly glazed.
Another initiative that highlights Window Technology's environmental awareness is its participation in VHS' Circular Facade Economy project, which focuses on generating circular solutions for facades, window frames and sills.
In addition, two employees were recently trained to conduct LCA (life-cycle analysis) projects. "The goal of this is to eventually be able to provide an EPD, or environmental product declaration, for all of our products," says Heino. "Currently we are busy shaping the throughput for our sills."
