The workflow becomes more manageable
For years, Klaes has been developing innovative software solutions that support window and door manufacturers, conservatory builders and other manufacturing companies to optimally digitize their business processes. In doing so, the software house also focuses on communication. Thus, at the end of last year, customers and other interested parties could participate in free webinars, in which Kapa (capacity planning) and e-prod (paperless production) were presented in great detail. Both events were very practical, as the examples came from two loyal customers, who use this software to optimally organize their processes.
Capacity planning is about balancing supply and demand: how many people and resources are needed to complete all projects successfully. Each order must therefore be checked for feasibility every time. This is precisely what Klaes Kapa does for the user, which is why this software is linked to the most diverse aspects within the total workflow. Sales manager Eckaert Sievert from Klaes started the webinar with the theoretical explanation, after which Manuel Adam, head of technology and IT at Sievers & Söhne GmbH, went deeper into the practical side by showing how he works with the software package.
The combination of theory and practice was successful, because all possibilities could be presented in detail and were also immediately tested in practice. It was especially interesting to see how Manuel Adam positioned the software step by step in his work environment as a central information platform for the entire team:
- The software provides all the necessary information in real time, so reports are rarely needed;
- Forward planning can be done consistently based on the automatic variables, since all current data is continuously available;
- All order importers also schedule themselves, so the information is always up-to-date;
- List views are used very intensively. After all, they are configured and stored for different tasks;
- Complete production batches are also assembled in Kapa.
Klaes e-prod takes care of data dissemination in production. Smooth adaptability and flexibility are keywords for this software solution. Achim Binder, Leitung Technischer Vertrieb at Klaes, together with Florian Jehle and Ronald Oelker, respectively managing director and operations manager at Sebnitzer Fensterbau GmbH, were in charge of a successful webinar, which focused mainly on examples from the everyday operation of the window manufacturer. Starting from the production layout, it was impressively demonstrated how e-prod positively influences processes. It also immediately became clear how this affects the entire operation of the company and even suppliers and customers:
- We have some special workstations, where wings are manufactured lying down;
- The sample is grouped according to the sequence for machining the components;
- Orders to the glass factory are done digitally and feedback is used immediately in e-prod;
- During the final inspection, a CE label is printed and each window is given its own unique code;
- The loose accessories must be correct, as the packaged bundles and boxes cannot be checked.
However, everything starts in the work preparation. There one ensures that all accessories are provided based on the window's assembly method. The effect of Klaes e-prod is of course most striking in a production environment, where there is no automation (yet). But the solution can also be optimally adapted to existing production lines and, for example, track the status of the machines. Dashboards with statistics allow the sources of recurring errors to be traced, as well as the next step in the production process to be started "just-in-time.
Intelligent digitization shortens processes and creates a clear workflow. Klaes' webinars are an ideal means of quickly generating well-founded ideas for further, sensible digitization of one's own processes. Further individual support can then be provided by the Klaes sales staff, each of whom is responsible for a particular region. The next webinars in German and English are scheduled for the end of February.
