Which doors insulate so well that energy bills go down?

Rising energy prices and an ever-increasing climate problem are reasons for many homeowners to make their homes more sustainable. More and more residents are investing in solar panels and a hybrid central heating boiler, but it is now also possible to choose an insulated exterior door. This prevents heat from still flying out through the door. With Skantrae's insulating Next front doors and Next back doors, making your home more sustainable is made even easier!

The insulating exterior doors are a good development, according to Rianne Lunenborg, Marketing Manager Doors at Skantrae, because together the doors take up more than four square meters of façade area. "In order to be able to provide an optimally insulating door for every home and every living style, we have searched for a high-tech insulation panel with which sleek and modern as well as timeless, rural and classic doors can be realized."

The difference from a normal door is not on the outside, but rather in the insulating core, she says. "A lightweight exterior door with a high insulation value, which is less sensitive to weather conditions and therefore also requires less maintenance. Thanks to Skantrae, this is no longer future music, but reality!"

"With the NEXT front doors and NEXT rear doors, we are now introducing the new standard in door technology. What makes our exterior doors particularly unique is the advanced panel construction. This not only creates great design freedom, but also effectively overcomes problems such as drafts, shrinkage and swelling. The use of whole panels provides much greater basic strength. Combined with our hardware packages and our insulating and safety glass, insulation is also raised to the very highest level."

Lower energy consumption, maximum living comfort

All NEXT exterior doors are constructed of an insulating core with 100% FSC on each side.® meranti plywood and an aluminum interlayer. The core includes an XPS rigid foam filling that is pressure-resistant, moisture-resistant and lightweight, ensuring a low U-value, Lunenborg said.

"This results not only in lower energy consumption, but also in maximum living comfort. The hall is no longer cold. The aluminum intermediate layers contribute to a very high form stability of the door, which means that possible shrinkage and swelling behavior and therefore sticking doors are no longer an issue. This allows considerable savings in maintenance. The use of whole panels also ensures a uniform wood grain pattern, which absolutely benefits the aesthetics of the doors!"

Thought of everything

Thanks to the door's low weight, it is easy to hang by the craftsman. "In addition, we unburden the craftsman with a wide range of doors, hardware and supporting services such as digital tools," Lunenborg said. "This allows them to even better inform, inspire and let their customers make choices from our range of finishing products."

The ultimate in convenience and safety

All NEXT exterior doors are tested according to KOMO guidelines. In addition, a standard 10-year warranty is issued on the front and rear doors. "In terms of price and appearance, the exterior doors are very similar," Lunenborg emphasizes. "In terms of living comfort, durability, maintenance and processing, however, NEXT leaves the solid wood door far behind."

Thanks to the hardware packages, residents can also lock their insulated front doors and back doors quickly, properly and securely. In short: thought of everything!"

Insulating glass

Skantrae opts for quality, comfort and safety. This is why the glass range consists entirely of insulating glass. "This glass consists of two sheets of glass with a cavity between them," Lunenborg said.

"This cavity is filled with dry air and has an insulating effect. This also has a beneficial effect on energy bills and living comfort. In addition, double glazing has a sound-insulating effect. In the case of stained glass, the glass is built into the insulating glass, which also takes durability, appearance and comfort to the highest level."
