Unique sills in new door concepts

Unique sill systems in new door concepts help ensure water and airtightness. Front doors still regularly let water and wind through on completion. In addition, the tendency is for users to want wooden doors with plastic frames more often, a difficult combination. The unique patented door concept VTS Door© and the KaiCombi concept can offer a solution. Both door systems are equipped with high-quality sills.

Venster Techniek from Zelhem has been providing innovative solutions to the door and frame industry since 1999. Everything is always fully tailored to customer demand. "We offer generic solutions and adapt them to the customer. Assembled customization using standard and partially customized products. We supply sills, glass stop profiles and sealing profiles for both wooden and plastic frames. We are constantly innovating," says Jurgen Rensen, director-owner of Venster Techniek.

For example, last year the company came up with a unique solution to the most common complaints about doors at home completion: drafts and the front door not closing properly. These are caused by warping of the door in cold and heat.

The solution that VT Systems, a subsidiary of Venster Techniek, has developed for this purpose is the VTS DOOR, which is being produced for the first time this year. A perfect door concept for a wooden front door in a wooden frame.

According to Rensen, this system offers advantages for both occupant and processor. "The door is rain and wind tight and is burglar-proof closed by the automatic locking lock. Thereby, the locking points are installed in a fixed position at the top and bottom so that the action of the wood does not impede the (unlocking) of the door. The deadbolt provides additional security."

All functions are maintained at the door with a frame seal with a stop clearance of 8mm, which warps with heat or cold. Even if the warping changes, the door does not need to be readjusted.

The VTS Door features a modular sill. Rensen: "Our unique Easy-Ent®Flex-Door sill system for wooden window frames. This meets the highest insulation values. On this, all rebates that exist in the Netherlands can be placed."

The hybrid sill system is made of aluminum and is combined with a wood mounting lath. This makes the frame dimensionally stable and reduces the assembly time. The sill continues in one line on the outside. On the inside, the wooden style continues and the appearance of the frame remains intact.

All these elements ensure optimal lockability and wind and water tightness of the VTS Door, even in round form. With the components supplied by Window Technology, carpentry and door manufacturers can easily produce the door.

Another innovation is the KaiCombiconcept developed by Kegro Deuren to which Venster Techniek is a major contributor. This involves wooden doors in a plastic/aluminum frame profile, so far not a best combination. "The KaiCombi is a nice solution," says Rensen. This flat exterior door has a wooden frame with insulating PU core filling. On both sides is glued a sandwich construction of HDF with a Tricoya cover plate and aluminum core. The cover plate provides a sleek appearance, as well as design freedom.

"This includes the best sill imaginable. Our unique EEAL sill system arranges perfect sealing and closing of the door." EEAL is a (fiberglass reinforced) sill system for various plastic profile houses. The Stone-Look sill meets the maximum step height requirements. Rensen: "With this combination of materials, hardware, seals and sill profiles, plastic frames and wooden doors finally go together!"
