'The need for doors that open and close automatically is rapidly increasing'

Since 1990 ALKU has been producing high quality plastic window frames, doors, sliding doors and related products, which are delivered and assembled through an extensive dealer network in the Netherlands. Fully customized, high quality, complete, durable, beautiful and safe. Thanks in part to the hardware of KFV and parent company SIEGENIA-GROEP, supplied by wholesaler Burghouwt from Arnhem. From the locks to the hinges and fittings, ALKU is taken care of as much as possible.

"The supply of hardware products provides Burghouwt with customized project support," explain Timo Gloudemans and Edward Korsten of ALKU. "The wholesaler not only takes care of the warm intake and inventory of customer requirements, but also informs residents about the chosen method of working. So that we can carry out our work without any problems. Especially in projects where motor locks are used, this works very pleasantly. Because many residents still find the switch to such systems exciting. The lines of communication between ALKU, Burghouwt and KFV are also very short, allowing us to respond very quickly to customer requests."

Program of requirements as a starting point

Electronic solutions often involve specific knowledge. Especially when the possibilities are almost unlimited, as is the case with the GENIUS motor lock. "To ensure that the door and the hinges and locks function exactly as desired, I support residents in properly formulating their Program of Requirements," says Peter Hovenga of Burghouwt.

Besides projects for longer home living and/or disabled people, ALKU and Burghouwt frequently apply GENIUS motor locks in luxury homes, where the locking system is part of the total home automation (domotics).

"Because which form of control is actually preferred? Are people comfortable with a remote control or do they prefer an app on their smartphone, a wall reader or a fingerprint scanner? Or perhaps even a combination of these? Burghouwt then delivers all the necessary hardware components to ALKU, which assembles the components in the factory in Tilburg and assembles them on site. Once these are ready, we take care of connecting and commissioning the system, as well as programming/learning the remote control, wall reader and/or tags. This ensures optimal use."

Rapidly growing interest

The need for doors that open and close automatically is rapidly increasing, Hovenga notes. "Especially now that more and more people have to live (safely) at home for longer. For this target group, but also for people who are wheelchair-bound, for example, the GENIUS motor lock offers great advantages. Especially in combination with a swing door operator, with which the door can not only be automatically locked and unlocked, but can also be steered open. Without compromising security. Authorizations can be added, changed and/or revoked at any time as needs change. In addition, time locks for automatic locking and unlocking can be easily set. The door is always closed with three hooks (three-point locking), thus complying with the standard for burglary resistance. KFV has also built a control into the motor lock, which greatly simplifies control."
