Special sill is part of unique combination concept for wood-like door in non-wood frame

Elsewhere in this issue you can read all about the unique combination concept where wood-like doors can be used in non-wood window frames. Developed by KEGRO from Groesbeek, with the name KaiCombi, this concept is currently being rolled out nationwide. With this concept, a long-cherished wish of many an architect becomes reality: the allure of a wood-like entrance door combined with the durability of non-wood window frames.

A crucial part of the concept is the prescribed sill to be applied by the profile houses. KEGRO chose to have this sill made by Venster Techniek from Zelhem. We speak with Thomas Keizer, product developer at Venster Techniek.

A rock-solid foundation

"KEGRO and Venster Techniek know each other well, we know what we can gain from each other and we both have high quality standards. So KEGRO knew very well what is possible with our EEAL sills for plastic window frames. That's why the EEAL sill formed the basis of the KaiCombi sill that we developed in-house," Keizer outlines. "A proven product, adapted to the profiling of the various profile houses for which KEGRO also supplies the KaiCombi concept to size. That is also one of the reasons for its success, the fact that all the components that make up the KaiCombi concept fit directly to the specific profiling of the various manufacturers."

What are the advantages of the EEAL sill? Keizer: "The frame and sill width match, everything fits seamlessly because we follow the profile specific to the profile house with our sill. We make these sills from fiberglass-reinforced polyester, they are easy to process and are delivered completely assembled. The sills have double seals and can be glazed directly. The buttresses on the sill differ per profile house and ensure a direct and precise connection. Especially within the KaiCombi concept, this is of great importance."

What does Window Technology understand by direct glazing, we ask. Keizer answers, "Whereas a traditional plastic window frame always needs an intermediate sill for glazing, our sill has a glass cap in line with the sill. So glazing can be done without the intervention of the unsightly intermediate sill. The result is more glass, less work and an aesthetic appearance."

New web portal makes ordering easy

Venster Techniek recently launched a revamped web portal. "Customers log in there with username and password and can order online to their heart's content. The KaiCombi EEAL sill will also be available through the web portal, clearly recognizable as a product that belongs within KEGRO's concept. After all, we supply the sill directly to the processors."

Venster Techniek and KEGRO demonstrate the power of good cooperation. "We understand each other and it is great to see that through such intensive cooperation something beautiful like the KaiCombi concept is created. Our customers benefit and new avenues are opened up by the new application. We have now run a number of trade shows together with KEGRO and the reactions to the concept have all been favorable," Keizer concludes.
