Multi-point locks offer many practical advantages for the processor

The range, discussed in this article, consists of key-operated multi-point locks with escape door function, the 8600 series, and self-closing variants of the 8700 series. With the 8700 series, simply pulling the door closed is sufficient, as manual locking is no longer necessary after this. Moreover, the multi-point locking has a tamper-proof latching sequence control in the main lock, which means that no additional release mechanisms are needed for the auxiliary locks and no special locking plates are required. Consideration has also been given to the issue of retrofitting.

Because if the electronic "upgrade" of a door is ever desired, the 8700 series multi-point lock can simply be equipped with an automatic opener. This is an attractively priced alternative to the motor lock. With such an opener, the door can be unlocked automatically, motorized and in seconds, even with access control and, if necessary, a walk function. In combination with an emergency power supply, this variant is therefore also suitable for smoke and fire doors.

For the processor, there are many advantages to both the 8600 and 8700 series. For example, only one lock is needed to fill four versions. The escape door side (outward/ inward) and direction of rotation (DL/DR) in all escape door functions can be set to each unique situation. In addition, there are individual application possibilities within the 8000 series, for example through lock boxes with uniformly milled dimensions.

A backspacing of 15 mm additionally allows flexible use even in narrow profiles. WILKA's new multi-point locks are further interesting for use in neighboring countries. The locks can optionally be prepared for the Swiss 22 mm round cylinders.

Also important to know: an integrated tolerance in the striker plate ensures light operation of the lock and that all shots function reliably, even if the door has sagged by up to 5 mm.

A plus in security: with the optional two counter-rotating hook bolts in both key-operated and self-locking variants, higher security classes (up to RC 3) can be achieved than are generally the case.

Of course, it is possible to equip them with commercially available knob and electronic knob cylinders, such as the WILKA easy 2.0 system. It almost goes without saying that the WILKA multi-point locks of the new 8000 series comply with all relevant standards.

"For the first time, our new multi-point locks offer real added value for metal door manufacturers. All necessary locking and security components for escape doors are available from WILKA. And thanks to features such as the adjustable striker plate and the uniform size of the lock case, even significantly less time is required for milling and fitting," concludes Tobias Eckhoff, Product Manager.
