With 330 mechanical window controls, Teleflex BV of Tiel has completed its largest project to date: The CubeHouse in Amsterdam. The new headquarters of BNP Paribas Nederland and Arcadis, located on Parnassusweg, combines high sustainability ambitions with a future-proof design. Upon completion, the new building should not only be ‘Paris Proof’, but also have a WELL-gold certified indoor climate. For the natural ventilation in the aluminum element façade, the building consortium chose Teleflex's robust solutions.

The CubeHouse, an eleven-story, approximately 16,300 square foot building, was designed with great attention to daylight and a pleasant indoor climate. Instead of heavy installations, expansion windows with mechanical window controls that are easy to open and close were chosen. This stimulates natural ventilation, allowing fresh air to penetrate deep into the building and creating a healthy working climate. This fits perfectly with the project's WELL-gold ambition.

For this iconic new construction project, Teleflex BV supplied and installed no less than 330 window controls. This makes it the largest order in the history of the company from Tiel. Thanks to ample stocks, the first deliveries could be started immediately after the contract was awarded. Assembly took place in phases and was carried out by a compact team of two fitters. “With a structured approach, we were able to complete the work efficiently and coordinate well with the other construction partners,” says Jesse Verheem, operations manager at Teleflex. He explains that the pop-out windows in the building vary in size: “Depending on the width, one or more controls were used. On the lower five floors, 44 units per floor were installed, on the higher floors this number decreases.”
Teleflex's Clearline system was chosen for this project. Because of the high wind load on the facade - especially on the higher floors - this was a logical choice. This line is distinguished by a robust design and a stainless steel chain that guarantees a long service life. “The windows can be opened up to 25 centimeters, with a rotary handle allowing multiple intermediate positions. This provides maximum flexibility in ventilation,” Verheem clarified. “The system is SKG** certified, which guarantees burglar resistance in addition to ease of use. For The CubeHouse, the window controls are supplied in gray to match the facade appearance.”
The completion of The CubeHouse fills Verheem with pride: “Not only because of the size of the assignment, but also because of the contribution we were thus able to make with Teleflex to a sustainable and healthy office building. With a compact team, a sizeable project was realized that fits seamlessly with the client's sustainability goals. The CubeHouse shows what Teleflex is capable of: delivering reliable technology that contributes to future-proof buildings.”

Teleflex has specialized in window openers for over 70 years and is part of Railtechniek van Herwijnen Groep. The company advises, supplies and installs a wide range of mechanical and electrical solutions for casement windows, tilt and turn windows, skylights and domes. From double chain openers to linear and rack openers, the program is widely applicable in both residential and commercial construction.
The products are supplied to hardware stores and contractors, but Teleflex also regularly joins projects in the advisory phase. The most suitable solution is selected on the basis of window type, size, weight and user requirements, always with an eye for both current requirements and the appearance of the building. If required, Teleflex can also take care of the installation, as was the case with The CubeHouse, for example.
As part of the Railtechniek van Herwijnen Group, the company now also manufactures and installs suspended line systems around the world. Jesse: “Our broad field of application is further underlined by the fact that we are the official dealer in the Benelux of the Swiss top brand GIS, a leading manufacturer of electric chain hoists and lifting solutions. For this we represent the complete hoisting and lifting equipment program.”
