Innovative window frame system proves added value in renovation project in Lelystad

A series of homes in the Zandbank residential area in Lelystad is undergoing an impressive metamorphosis. As many as 67 rental homes are being renovated and made more sustainable, after which another 120 owner-occupied homes will also qualify. The renovation includes new, sustainable window frames. The choice for this was the S 9000 NL reno system from GEALAN. An innovative window frame system that contributes to very efficient project implementation thanks to its fast assembly.

Pleasant living in the Sandbank

Housing corporation Centrada started the 'Pleasant living in the Zandbank' project in late 2024. In cooperation with the residents and the municipality, they are working on more living comfort and a better living environment. Lenferink Vastgoedonderhoud signed for the implementation. Together with Wijnsma Kozijnen from Drachten, they visited the residential area to determine the best window frame solution for this large-scale renovation. "We won the tender with a plan of action that included the GEALAN system offered by Wijnsma Kozijnen," says Gerard Honderd, project manager at Lenferink Vastgoedonderhoud.

Four homes a week

"Wijnsma manufactures and installs plastic window frames with the GEALAN profile, these frames combine a sleek design with excellent insulation," said Jordi van 't Ende, work planner at Lenferink Vastgoedonderhoud. "In addition, their careful working method and clear communication gave us a good feeling." Marcel Elzinga, commercial manager at Wijnsma Kozijnen, adds: "We ended up with the systems S 9000 NL base and S 9000 NL reno, with the latter being convincing because of its efficient assembly, without extensive demolition work. This allows us to shorten the lead time and provide four homes a week with new plastic window frames."

Renovate faster, more sustainable and smarter

The S 9000 NL reno system was developed specifically for the Dutch market, with renovation projects like this one in mind. "Thanks to the clever design, when installing the reno system, the old, wooden window frame can remain in place," Mark Kuiperij, system consultant at GEALAN, explains the advantages. "As a result, it is many times faster to install, it creates less construction waste, there is no risk of damage and it causes minimal inconvenience to residents." In addition, the system delivers optimum performance, thanks to the smart middle seal and multiple insulation chambers.

After installation, residents immediately experience more comfort, lower energy costs and a completely new, fresh look to their homes.
