Importance of burglar resistance of door and sandwich panels still underestimated

Most newly built homes in the Netherlands are delivered including locks with security cylinders, with an SKG classification and the Police Quality Mark Safe Living. "However, these door fittings are of little use if the door itself does not meet the burglar resistance requirements," believes Vincent Wijnja, Head of Sales at Panelen Holland BV. "Ever since the introduction of the SKG seal of approval in the Netherlands, we have noticed that although the security certificate is prescribed in most project specifications, it is not always achieved in practice," says Wijnja.

"Even in the year 2020, front doors are still regularly delivered without certification. A missed opportunity, because residents are not assured of a high quality and safe door in accordance with the Building Code. As an organization we have made every effort for several years to deliver products that do comply with the available certification marks. For example, we have developed a system whereby windows can no longer be removed from the door panel from the outside. These and other efforts have been rewarded with SKG^** certification. If required, all our door and sandwich panels can be engineered, produced and delivered in accordance with the technical requirements of this certification system. In addition, our products comply with quality marks such as CSR, ISO14001, ISO9001 and C2C."

Over the past year, Panelen Holland BV has had its door panels in combination with various profile systems tested by SKG. "System houses that have not yet been tested but are open to this are welcome to contact
take," emphasizes Wijnja, who also cites Panelen Holland BV's latest achievement. 

"Since 2020, we have also had an SKG^*** certification. This latest certification relates to a sandwich panel developed specifically for buildings with high safety requirements. To achieve the high rating, we have combined innovative production methods with new, clever material combinations."
