GND white paper: Reduced soundproofing door requirements for small apartments

In residential buildings with smaller apartments and/or studios, the Bbl requirement of 52 dB soundproofing is often not met because there is often no separated hallway there. The front door then forms the only barrier against sound transmission between the common corridor, the corridor and the living space. However, practice shows that common door sets with a sound insulation of 37 or 42 dB more than meet the need for privacy and living comfort. In this white paper, GND clarifies the Bbl requirements a new ISO standard and around the soundproofing of door sets in small apartments and studios. Furthermore, GND explains how the new ISO standard can be used as an equivalent reference. This shows that common door sets with sound insulation of 37 or 42 dB more than meet the need for privacy and living comfort. GND's practical noise categories correspond to the categories defined in the BRL 2211 for interior doors and are in line with those used in neighboring countries. They are based on the Rw,p value of the door set and are divided into noise categories. This makes it easier to recommend which door set is required or suitable in which situation.
