For integration in public buildings, interior doors in most cases have to meet a whole range of criteria. For architects, this is a thorn in their side, because so-called security doors often do not fit into the interior design they have in mind. Thanks to Xinnix Door Systems' 'X2-certified' series, it is now possible to install fire-resistant, smoke-resistant, burglar-resistant and acoustic doors flush with the wall. Aesthetics and certified functionality go hand in hand.
"Swing, sliding, pivot doors, standard or custom - we have had them all in the range for years. However, we continue to invest in the development of new solutions to offer architects, contractors and building owners a suitable solution for each specific application," states Chris Vermeulen, owner of Xinnix Door Systems, specialist in patented systems for flush integration of interior doors.
"Architects should not be at a loss when it comes to integrating security doors into a project. After all, we also have acoustic -, fire- and smoke-resistant - as well as burglar-resistant doors, which perfectly meet the high requirements in many public buildings, for example. These systems are also certified one by one. One example is our acoustic door solutions, available with sound attenuation of -33 dB and higher on request. These are tested in accordance with NBN EN ISO 101040-2/2010 and calculated in accordance with NBN EN ISO 717-1:2013. Within this certificate, doors are allowed to be 1069 mm wide and 3001 mm high."
Xinnix also developed solutions for fire and smoke protection systems that are not a disturbing element. Even for those specific door systems, the specialist did not touch the proven concept of pre-painted aluminum frames, without visible frames, with invisible hinges and possibly an integrated door closer. The combination of the certified Xinnix frames with a fire-resistant door leaf ensures that fire and smoke do not spread.
"Our frames were subjected to various tests according to the European standards for fire ratings and passed them with flying colors. The single doors are available in EI130 and EI260, the double doors in EI130, with a wide choice of hardware solutions. Also within this certificate, the doors may be 1069 mm wide and have a height of up to 3001 mm - 2662 mm for double doors," explains the manager. "Furthermore, they comply with the SA-S200 smoke standard, i.e. smoke resistance at 200° C or 'hot smoke'. This SA classification reflects the ability of a door to limit or completely stop the transfer of smoke or gases between spaces. This assumes smoke with ambient temperature or "old smoke."
For architects, contractors and building owners who demand extra security, Xinnix also offers burglar-resistant doors with resistance class RC2. The specialist supplies systems with door leaves between 1500 and 2454 mm high and between 464 and 1069 mm wide. They are equipped with a self-locking multi-point lock - SECL2 and can also be optionally ordered with a door closer, motor lock and latch.
"For burglar-proof doors with such a resistance class, it is important to have the entire element tested. We had our burglar-resistant door, consisting of the door leaf, the Xinnix frame, integrated hinges and a multi-point lock, tested in accordance with EN 1627 (2011) at an independent body. The result: a proven burglar resistance of at least 3 minutes," Vermeulen emphasizes. "These frameless burglar-resistant interior doors are also fire-resistant EI130, offering double protection in the event of an emergency. In short, at Xinnix we always have a certified system for each type of security door in the range."
