Produce smarter

The search for more efficient production processes keeps the window frame and profile industry busy every day. How do you achieve maximum output with minimum staffing? That is the question Niels and Cees van Essen, directors of Kruba in Baarn, hear more and more often. The market demands not only more, but smarter production. And that starts with investing in high-quality, reliable technology.

"The labor market shortage is structural," Niels van Essen argues. "Everyone now realizes that we no longer need to rely on extra people. So companies are looking more and more critically at their processes. How can we produce more with fewer actions, fewer mistakes and less time?"

As an exclusive partner of URBAN in the Netherlands, Kruba from Baarn has been offering solutions to this for many years. Just recently, the company delivered three high-quality seamless four-point welding machines of the type AKS9610-CUT to two different clients, each with their own production approach and clientele. But the common denominator is clear: the need for reliability, precision and maximum output.

Of course, Kruba employees are always there the moment the machine is put into use.

Two customers, one solution

URBAN's AKS9610-CUT is a CNC-controlled four-point welding machine that welds the four corners of a plastic frame, sash or door in one cycle. The machine is designed to work quickly and accurately, with minimal rework. And that pays off.

Cees van Essen explains, "One of our customers supplies directly to individuals, small contractors and owners' associations. For them it was important that the new machine could be linked to their existing CNC angle machining center. That integration is crucial: everything has to fit together smoothly."

The second customer operates mainly in the renovation and new construction sector. "They even recently received delivery of two AKS9610 machines, combined with a dual CNC machine tool," said Cees. "In their case, it's all about speed and scalability. They want to be able to scale up without losing production. With this setup, they have succeeded."

Precision on sixteen axes

What makes the AKS9610-CUT so special? According to Niels, the difference lies in its technical finesse. "This machine has four independent welding units and no less than sixteen interpolating CNC axes. This allows the welding units to move and tune extremely precisely to any profile, in any position. Even the HVL and 'Straight-on-Slope' corner joints are welded perfectly without post-processing."

From welding to finished product in one motion

The strength of the Urban AKS9610-CUT lies not only in the welding itself, but in the complete integration of operations. "Before welding, the Welding Machine performs the operations for the purpose of the seamless welded joint. And also mills under the seal for a good glass and/or sash seal." Furthermore, the angle machining machine can be equipped with additional machining units for, among other things, drilling the attachment holes for the purpose of 'Eck und Scherenlager' and milling away the tip when welding a profile with and without overlay. "All this is done in an automatic cycle," Cees explains. "That saves an enormous amount of time and handling. You don't have to move the profile or re-tension it. Everything happens in one cycle."

This integrated approach meets the desire of many manufacturers to automate without compromising on quality. "The days of manual updating with these seamless Welding Machines are over," Niels said. "Every operation you automate reduces the risk of errors and saves costs."

Sustainable investment in return

That the demand for this type of machine is increasing does not surprise the two. "With a machine like the AKS9610-CUT, you reduce the manual post-coloring of the profile, reduce maintenance and increase the reliability of your production process." Both customers who invested recently saw results within a short time. "Output increased, downtime decreased and the number of corrections decreased. That's exactly what the industry needs: machines that do what they promise."

Custom advice

Kruba assists clients from orientation to commissioning. "We help think about the right configuration, software connections and production logistics," Cees says. "Every factory is different. Just by mapping that out properly, we make the difference together." With the AKS9610-CUT, URBAN thus proves its reputation as an innovator. And Kruba that of a reliable partner. "We deliver solutions," Niels and Cees conclude. "And our customers reap the benefits of that every day."
