Self-adhesive tapes are an indispensable tool in today's construction industry. tesa, one of the world's leading producers of such tapes, offers with the ACXplus family an ideal solution for quick fixing of reinforcing profiles, among other things. Recently, these self-adhesive tapes were used for mounting profiles on aluminum composite sheets, which give the facade of the new offices of construction company Cordeel an impressive look.
The self-adhesive tapes from the tesa® ACXplus family were used the quick fixing of
reinforcing profiles on the composite panels.
The new headquarters of construction company Cordeel at the former dry dock of the Boel yard in
Temse rests on 2 imposing pillars, towering 20 meters above the water table. Designed by the team at Binst Architecture, the building, with a 1,200-ton steel frame and an atypical shape, is an architectural masterpiece.
"The new building volume immediately catches the eye because of its impressive facade with glass sections and reflective panels, which, depending on time and weather conditions, always provide a varying look," says Koen Vandersmissen, managing director of supplier Limeparts-Drooghmans. "This facade includes a total of 5,500 m² of Alucobond panels. These composite panels with an average size of 1.1 x 3.6 meters are composed of two aluminum sheets of 0.5 mm each and a polymer intermediate layer of 3 mm."
Adhesive tape from the ACXplus family of tesa, one of the leading manufacturers of technical tapes and self-adhesive system solutions, is used. This high-performance double-sided tape is an important part of the revolutionary facade system designed by Limeparts-Drooghmans.
tesa® ACXplus tapes are distinguished by their high adhesive strength, even on difficult materials,
very high initial adhesion and excellent resistance to cold shock.
"With our tesa® ACXplus we offer a range of self-adhesive tapes, ideal for the quick fixing of reinforcing profiles on panels made of aluminum, stainless steel and other non-corrosive metals, as well as on composite panels, such as the Alucobond facade panels," says Technical Sales & Application Support Jens Emmerich. "They are distinguished by high adhesion even to difficult materials, very high initial adhesion and excellent resistance to cold shock. After all, viscoelastic tapes made of acrylic foam compensate for differences in thermal expansion and therefore guarantee invisible and vibration-free placement of the profiles on the back of the panels. Moreover, the tape can be pre-adhered to the profiles, allowing for more flexible and efficient work planning."
