'Central control ensures even air circulation'

Linear electric window opener offers solution for skylight warehouse

Stam Elektrotechniek faced a major challenge: how to create a comfortable indoor climate - despite the presence of several skylights in a warehouse in Westknollendam that are difficult to open manually? Teleflex BV from Tiel came up with an innovative solution by automating the six skylights with the S80 linear electric window opener.

With skylights, the risk of overloading is greater than with other types of windows. "This is why we often advise our customers in such cases to use a linear window opener," says Teleflex operations manager Jesse Verheem. "This window opener is mounted vertically and features an opening rod made of stainless steel. The chain of a chain opener, on the other hand, is generally more fragile, so it could be more easily damaged or broken. With a window opener with a rod made of stainless steel, you eliminate this problem."

Central control

For the six dome windows in the warehouse roof, Stam Elektrotechniek chose the S80 linear electric window opener, in a version with a maximum opening stroke of 1,000 mm. "This means that each window opener can push the dome window open up to one meter," says Jesse. "Thanks to the central control, all six skylights can be easily operated from one central point. At the touch of a button, the skylights can be opened and closed effortlessly. Especially in this warehouse, where opening the skylights manually is not practical, this was the ideal solution."

Comfortable work environment

The automation of the skylights with the S80 saves a lot of time as well as ensuring a gradual and even air circulation throughout the warehouse," Jesse continues. "Even on the hottest days, this creates a comfortable working environment. With this advanced system we have not only improved the indoor climate, but also the overall efficiency in the warehouse. By the way, it is also possible to control the S80 - as is the case with all of Teleflex's other window openers - in other ways, such as, for example, with a switch on the wall, with a radio remote control or via a Wi-Fi connection with an app on the smartphone."

High protection class

The S80 also makes a difference in that this linear window opener is in a fairly high protection class, says Jesse. "All versions of the S80 have an IP68 or IP65 protection class, which means that they are completely dust and (splash) watertight. Especially in workshops and warehouses where a lot of dust is released, this is obviously of great value."
