GEZE shows the balance between safety and accessibility at Polyclose

At the Polyclose trade fair, GEZE showed how safety, accessibility and user comfort can go hand in hand in modern door solutions. Requirements for doors are becoming increasingly stringent, including in the areas of air tightness, soundproofing, burglary and fire protection. At the same time, non-standard door sizes are being used more and more often. According to Ronald van Driel, Head of Sales GEZE Benelux, this creates a growing imbalance between safety and accessibility, while the latter is essential for users.

GEZE, a German family company with more than 160 years of experience in door, window and safety technology, is actively responding to this. At Polyclose, the company emphasized that safe escape routes are increasingly being defined in both standards and building specifications. There is also a growing focus on accessibility, especially for the elderly, the disabled and children, for whom opening heavy doors can be a serious challenge.

To solve these problems, GEZE continuously develops its portfolio. Mechanical door closers are being further refined to reduce the physical force required without compromising on safety. In addition, GEZE presented the Powerturn automatic door operator at the fair: a versatile solution for swing doors up to 600 kilograms, which open lightly and close safely after each passage. The operator can be used as a mechanical, servo-assisted or fully automatic solution.

Also with automatic sliding doors, GEZE seamlessly follows the tightened EN 16005 standard, the only harmonized European standard for automated doors. This standard states that for many vulnerable users, any contact with an automatic door is unacceptable, making proper protection with sensors essential. With its solutions, GEZE clearly demonstrated at Polyclose how safe escape routes can be realized without compromising on accessibility and comfort.
