Anyone who visits Library IJsselstein can count on a healthy, fresh environment. The library's interior windows were recently taken care of by Teleflex BV, which motorized the windows. Teleflex BV advised, supplied and installed ACK4 electric turn-off windows on behalf of Polvo BV.
We speak with Jesse Verheem of Teleflex, about this solution. "Based on the library's requirements, Teleflex recommended the ACK4 window opener. The library wanted optimal ease of operation in opening and closing the casement windows. By lowering the threshold to use the windows, the indoor air quality will increase significantly. Fresh air is indispensable in a building. Normally, the library closes when the indoor temperature reaches 30˚C, or more. With our system, it is perfectly tolerable inside on hot, summer days. The response from the library speaks volumes; they should have done this much sooner, they say."
The ACK products can be applied to various types of windows. In the case of the interior casement windows at the library, the ACK4, with radio control, was used. "There are two facade sides. There is an individual control for each facade on the multi-channel remote control that was provided," Jesse continued. "For the library this is sufficient, but it is worth mentioning that control can go much further. If desired, control can be integrated within a building automation system. Various sensors can also be added to achieve automation. For example, think of sensors that measure wind and rain."
A unique feature of the ACK4 is the very robust chain that is made of stainless steel. "Strong and weatherproof," Jesse outlines. "The window can be opened from 10 cm to 40 cm, at 5 cm intervals. The unit itself is IP55 in terms of water resistance." For larger windows, the ACK4S can be used. The 's' stands for 'synchronous' and provides simultaneous control of two ACK4 units. "These units are pre-adjusted to each other, then once assembled they only need to be connected by subtle wiring."
Jesse may hint at the latest innovation in the pipeline. "We are currently testing opening and closing windows using App control. To be able to do that, a Wi-Fi box is included. The tests are going well and we expect to be able to offer this nice extension in the near future," Jesse concludes.
