WILKA lock series 7000 fits even the narrowest profiles

With the lock series 7000, WILKA Schließtechnik GmbH of Velbert (Germany) has a very special escape door series in its range, which offers both personal and burglary protection due to its self-locking feature. And that according to WILKA's well-known and proven modular system. The advantage for metalworkers: all lock dimensions are the same for the entire system, from the striker plate to the locking rods, the switch or snap locks or a uniform countercase. It does not matter whether it is the Series 6000, 7000 or normal profile door locks. From a mandrel size of 30 mm, the self-locking locks can be used even in the narrowest profiles. The deadbolt clearance for the Series 7000 lock is 20 mm. Of course, the products of the Velbert-based manufacturer are regularly tested by various bodies - for example, the VdS or the PIV in Velbert - and are certified according to EN 179/1125 for panic locks and EN 12209 for mechanically operated locks. Especially for the Netherlands and Belgium, the Series 7000 has been tested and certified according to SKG. The SKG has been considered a leading testing institute for the building industry in the Netherlands and Belgium for more than 30 years.

Pluses in terms of safety, ease of use and handling

"But what actually makes the lock series 7000 so special," Profile asked Tobias Eckhoff, product manager of lock and escape door systems at WILKA. "And what is the reason why the self-locking function is so important, especially in commercial construction?"

Eckhoff replies, "One of the main reasons is security, i.e. burglary protection. Because a locked door always offers optimum protection in the event of a break-in. Self-locking also has the advantage of minimizing operating costs, especially in large buildings, because, for example, it is no longer necessary for a janitor to regularly check the doors to see if they are actually locked. WILKA has integrated a number of security features, such as the intelligent closing sequence control, which locks the lock only when the door is actually properly closed."

Why choose an escape door lock series from WILKA?

"Yes indeed," Eckhoff answers. "The two escape door locks of the 6000 and 7000 series have a uniform milling dimension - and with the back rebate dimension of 15 mm, they can also be used in extremely narrow door profiles. And because of the uniform milling dimension, the metalworker can only decide at a very late stage whether to install the mechanical 6000 or the self-locking 7000 variant. This is often not fixed at the beginning of production. Moreover, both series have the same milling dimensions and all accessories are identical."

Integrated into LogiKal from Orgadata

The 7000 series is integrated into Orgadata's LogiKal software. Eckhoff explains why: "Most metalworkers use the supplier's software for door planning. So for us it is natural that all relevant data for the series, but also for many other WILKA products, are stored in the software. We see this as an additional service for the metal fabricator."

Wilka emphasizes manufacturing products of the highest quality. 

"Let's take the example of the latch bolt made of MIM steel, which is manufactured using the metal injection molding (MIM) process. This material is prescribed to guarantee the smoke and fireproof suitability of our locks. Moreover, the manufacturing process meets the maximum precision in terms of dimensional tolerances. The example of the latch bolts of our lock series 7000 already shows that we attach real importance to the highest possible quality for each component," Eckhoff concludes.
