SKK Kozijnwacht proves this, for example, on the Blankenbergestraat in Amsterdam, where 24 rental units were recently sustainably and energetically improved on behalf of Rendon Onderhoudsgroep Voorburg and NMG VvE Beheer.
SKK Kozijnwacht specializes in the repair, maintenance and (energetic) improvement of existing window frames. On behalf of housing corporations, owners' associations, maintenance contractors and private homeowners, we professionally repair badly closing doors, sticking windows, broken hinges and locks, burglary damage and draught and moisture complaints. In addition, the maintenance technicians perform preventive maintenance, significantly extending the life of plastic, aluminum and wooden window frames.
The homes on the Blankenbergestraat in Amsterdam date from 1995 on average. Among other things, the wooden tilt-and-turn windows were in need of an energetic upgrade after 25 years of faithful service.
"Many tilt-turn frames were showing draft and leakage problems," says Ivar Olofsen, Rayon Manager South at SKK Kozijnwacht BV. "To combat these and ensure sustainable operation in the future, we replaced the center seal rubbers and stop profiles, among other things. The same applies to the old infill 4 mm tilt-turn fittings, for which we, in cooperation with SIEGENIA supplier
Lecot have developed an effective and user-friendly milling method."
The milling method was developed specifically to allow the now out-of-date infill 4 mm tilt-turn hardware to be replaced dust- and sawdust-free with modern SIEGENIA TITAN tilt-turn hardware in inhabited areas, says Olofsen.
"This minimizes inconvenience to residents. Moreover, after replacement, residents can enjoy all the benefits of modern hardware without having to replace the existing window frames. This results, for example, in a reduction of the ecological footprint and a low Total Cost of Ownership of the existing window frames. After all, they can continue to be operated for 25 years without any problems."
For the replacement, the frame's rebate is milled out all around using a specially developed milling jig with extraction. "This creates ample air for the contemporary TITAN Tilt&Turn hardware. Before completion, the tilt-and-turn windows are of course neatly finished."
By using the dust- and sawdust-free milling method including SIEGENIA TITAN tilt-and-turn hardware, SKK Kozijnwacht has been able to standardize the renovation of both plastic and wooden tilt-and-turn windows. "This allows us to offer an important and cost-effective alternative to frame replacement," said Olofsen. "In the event of any complaints and/or malfunctions in the future, SKK's troubleshooting technicians can also replace the tilt-turn hardware as early as the first visit and from their standard auto stock. This 'First Time Fix' leads to higher satisfaction among housing corporations, Owners' Associations, maintenance contractors and residents alike. In addition, thanks to good cooperation, standardization of products, fast logistics and technical support, the SIEGENIA-Lecot-SKK triptych can quickly anticipate market demands."
The modern TITAN tilt and turn window hardware offers residents advantages in both ease of operation and security of the turning parts, and also provides a good balance between insulation and ventilation of the home. "Advantages that we can also take to the very highest level when upgrading existing wooden tilt and turn windows," Olofsen said. "On Blankenbergestraat, for example, we have implemented this perfectly."
