If it were up to GEZE, the annoyance of loudly slamming doors in hotels, care facilities, hospital rooms, office buildings and staircases of flats and apartment buildings would finally be a thing of the past. After many years of intensive further development, the specialist for door and window systems has launched a new door closer on the market which guarantees quiet and secure door closing even under difficult conditions and with variable air pressure: the GEZE TS 5000 SoftClose.
"We see that there are more and more rooms in which high(er) airtightness requirements apply," says Ronald van Driel, Manager Sales NL at GEZE. "This has consequences for windows as well as doors. In practice, we regularly see that doors and door closers are neatly adjusted, with the windows closed, but still cause closing and noise complaints when the windows are open. The changing requirements and environmental conditions were difficult to overcome with the current range of door closers. So we worked hard to develop a new solution that guarantees quiet (soft) and safe closing under all conditions."
A fire and smoke door or entrance door should always be closed correctly, Van Driel emphasizes. "Among other things, the door closer plays an essential role in this. With our GEZE TS 5000 SoftClose, we can control closing even better than before. This offers great advantages for hotels, care facilities, hospital rooms, office premises and stairwells of flats and apartment buildings, where the loud slamming of the door is often experienced as a major annoyance."
Loud slamming is often the result of air pressure differences between rooms, he says. "The TS 5000 SoftClose has the power to keep the door closing in a controlled manner until the last moment even in these difficult air pressure situations. Opening damping, closing speed and end stop can be fully adjusted to suit your needs. In addition, the door can be accelerated or decelerated during the final moments of closing. The improved adjustability helps with difficult conditions, such as exposure to wind and suction (negative pressure), as well as changing pressure conditions in the room. The innovative door closer is thus unprecedentedly flexible in use. The strength of the TS 5000 SoftClose guarantees secure closing, while the brake closing guarantees an extremely quiet closing. Ideal for the peace of mind (no noise pollution) and peace of mind (guaranteed closure) of, for example, hotel guests, care patients and residents."
The TS 5000 SoftClose stands for modern closing technology for any door up to 1,400 mm door width and with an opening angle of up to 180°. The slim door closer body is made of solid aluminum and is also available in matte black. Characteristic features of the TS 5000 series from GEZE are not only the slim design and very small dimensions, but also the limited number of components.
"The closing speed can be set easily and quickly using one innovative valve, without the need for additional attachments," Van Driel said. "All functions can be set from the front of the door closer. An optical closing force display also allows easy monitoring and management of the closing force. Thus we offer safety and comfort in optima forma."
GEZE has presented the TS 5000 SoftClose to its partners in recent weeks. The first pilot projects have also been launched. The general public was able to admire the latest, innovative showpiece for the first time at Polyclose. The reactions have been very positive, according to Van Driel. "People are incredibly happy that a solution for slamming and badly closing doors is finally being offered!"
