Faster processing and easier adjustment: these are the technical advantages of the Hahn VL band AT. The new concealed hinge version for doors made of flush aluminum profiles are completely hidden inside the profiles.

Variable mounting elements

Newly developed fasteners ensure a stable connection of the hinge elements to the profiles and prevent the profile walls from deforming. The elements can variably bridge wall distances between 38 and 83 mm by being combined differently with each other. In doing so, the fasteners can be attached to both metal and plastic studs. This allows a VL-Band to be used on different profile series. The hinge can be used for DIN left and DIN right as well as for inward and outward opening doors.

Three-dimensionally adjustable

The new hinge is now infinitely adjustable in 6 directions. To adjust the height, ± 4 mm can be used. The scaling on the hinge shows the processor to what degree the hinge is adjusted. New is the setting of the sealing pressure with
± 1.5 mm. This allows each door element
perfectly adapted to the conditions. The adjustment of a hung wing can be done by one person.

Higher carrying capacity and simplified assembly

The VL-Band AT can, when using 2 hinges, support up to 180 kg depending on the profiles used. Because depending on the installation situation and profile combination, door profiles can behave differently, suggests

The specially shaped support arm is very easy to assemble and disassemble. The wing comes directly into its final position and does not need to be supported for assembly. No special tools are required for lifting out the wing. Securing takes place via a screw connection of both hinge parts. The VL-Band is largely pre-assembled.

Elegant design

Especially appealing is the design of the new hinge: the hinge comes in elegant black. The design team attached particular importance to using as few visible screws as possible. The fastening screws will therefore be in the same black color tone to be as unobtrusive as possible. In contrast, the screws used for adjustment will stand out in a silver color. A plastic shell in the frame side supports the insulation and covers the view of the inside of the hinge. 

Easier assembly

Installation on site is particularly simple. Only one locking screw per hinge has to be loosened so that the sash can be lifted out without special tools. As with the current version, the maximum opening degree is 105°. An opening restrictor can be fitted on site. In accordance with certification according to EN 1935:2002 for high loads, the VL-Band AT has now achieved Band Class 13. The new VL-Band series will be available as early as August 1, 2022.

About Dr. Hahn

The hinge manufacturer Dr. Hahn from Mönchenbladbach has been manufacturing concealed hinges for two decades. The first version VL-Band ST was developed for steel profiles and was awarded the red dot award for product design. The VL-Band AL completed the product range for aluminum doors. At the request of architects, the next development came onto the market: the 180°-opening VL-Band for aluminum doors. This had already been awarded the Innovation Prize for Architecture and Construction).

A new variant was also developed for doors made of plastic profiles: the VL-Band KT offers the designer the same design advantages as the aluminium variant. All these experiences and further developments have led to the new VL-Band AT. Dr. Hahn is convinced that it is the best hinge in the family of concealed hinges.

VL-Tires are all about system-adapted hinges. Different profile combinations therefore require special variants. A competition or order requires the specification of the profile combination.
