New mounting kit for door catchers on full-glass doors:

Full-glass doors are beautiful, but also regularly create challenges. After all, how do you make sure these doors don't fall shut with a bang and as a result can break? Specialist in the noiseless opening, locking and catching of doors and gates, DICTATOR Productie BV, introduced in 2013 the DICTATOR 1600 door catchers with special glass clamping plates, that can catch full glass doors of 8, 10 or 12 mm thick noiselessly and keep them firmly closed.

"The stainless steel mounting plates (U-profiles) of these door catchers have pre-tapped mounting holes, which can be clamped over the glass door. They are then fixed with Loctite and the door catch can be bolted onto the U-profile, securing it firmly in place," says Harry Werkman, commercial director at DICTATOR Production BV. "Quite a labor-intensive process, which our latest mounting kit rivals."

The new mounting set has been specially developed for mounting DICTATOR Type 1600 door catchers on full glass doors, says Werkman. "The set contains both mounting plates for the door catchers themselves and for the catch hook, which can easily be attached to the door or glass fanlight by means of a special, double-sided tape. The mounting plates are already provided with tape at the factory, so that fitters on site only need to remove the protection, after which the plates can be attached. This saves significantly on assembly time. In recent months we have extensively tested the adhesive strength of the double-sided tape in various applications. This showed that even after 500,000 movements, a firm fixation was guaranteed."

Werkman even tested the tape in combination with the ZE Design Line door holders, standing on top of the product. "Again, the door holdback did not move from its place. Moreover, the tape has excellent resistance to the force of the sun (> 80°C)."

High quality appearance

To ensure a high-quality appearance of the full-glass doors, each DICTATOR mounting kit comes with a cover plate, which can also be attached with the double-sided tape, says Werkman. "This cover plate comes on the other side of the door and in exactly the same position as the mounting plate, ensuring a seamless finish. Both the mounting plate and cover plate are made of stainless steel 304."

Besides full glass doors, DICTATOR Productie BV's new installation set is perfect for plastic doors. Besides the simplicity of installation, its appearance and favorable price are a reason for many door manufacturers and suppliers to work with this product, says Werkman. "Moreover, the new mounting set is not bound to glass thicknesses, which increases the range of application considerably."
